I recently was referred to a Florida dealer who supposedly sells at MSRP. So I called up and talked to a salesman, who confirmed that they would order it for me at MSRP with no mark-up. So I asked about add-ons like tag, tax title and ??? He gave me that list , plus a "dealer fee" of $895. Deal killer! That IS NOT selling at MSRP; regardless of what you call it.I ordered in June from "Tuttle Click Ford" Irvine and I would rate them as: (1 - 10) w/ (1) being bad. BTW I use Tim Bartz as my (10) rating! and I know he's not a Salesman- Maverick Knowledgeable = 3 (back in June) but today = 7 to 8
- Responsive / Answer Questions = 8 (at 1st the salesman was very good, now I talk to the Sales Manager also very good).
- MSRP = Yes, locked in from day 1
- Parts Dept. / Service = ? I haven't used them, but they do have high ratings.
Overall: I was one of the 1st to order a Mav from them and I think the 1st "First Edition". I don't have anything negative...yet, but I knew and told them this was going to be a long term relationship just waiting for my Maverick (I thought I would get it by Dec...wrong). They are right off the 5 fwy and easy to talk to. I never felt high pressure sales approach / tactics. I did visit a couple of other dealers in the area and the "Santa Margarita" dealer seemed good. I really liked the guy in the parts department. In fact I might order accessories from them in the future.
My friend just ordered his a few weeks ago at a different dealer in Huntington Beach and his quick answer was he would pick Irvine over the H.B. dealer.

Agree, Agree, AgreeSame here, ordered First Edition Red from Tuttle Click Ford.
I like Tim Bartz, but I can not see myself buying from a dealer in KS.
TCF: Price=MSRP/$33,740, no dealer fee, no mark up, just the normal taxes and CA fees (YUCK, the fleecing of Californians continues. And yes I would move if I could afford it.)
If buying from out of state CA then there are many hoops through if you live here, after all that’s why it’s called Taxifornia!!!Agree, Agree, Agree
I might...maybe... kinda think about KC if I were financing, but having it go from Mex to KS to CA just doesn't seem like a good idea.
Ron, I don't think your dealer is doing you right. I know when I sat with my dealer putting my build/order into the Ford website I received my Ford conformation within an hour if not quicker. Yes, I provided my CDL and Yes I willingly gave them $1K deposit because I knew I wanted this truck. My salesman gave me his personal cell so I could contact him if I had any questions during the waiting process. Then as I had more difficult / higher level questions the Sales Manager said he would step in a be my direct contact from now on. He also raised my priority code from 19 to 10 and did other things that a salesperson couldn't.I called dealers around my area a couple months ago just to find a Maverick on a lot that I could sit in & check out. I'm a big guy- 6'4" & 275 and all the articles I saw kept calling it a small pickup. So wanted to try one for size before seriously considering ordering. A salesman at Sunrise in Fontana took my number & called me when a couple of them showed up for delivery and customers had passed on them. So I got to drive a Maverick & was impressed. Size was just fine, power was good, and it felt tight & handled well on my quick 2-3 mile test ride down the freeway. But I was waffling between ordering a loaded XLT with the turbo & AWD, etc, or the Hybrid.
Finally decided to go with the Hybrid & called Sunrise to place an order on Friday 10/22. But ran into issues with the order being placed & got passed around to different salesmen, etc. Was finally told that they had my build, & they asked for a copy of my driver's license so they could place the order.(Which I sent them). Then he told me that they were busy, and the actual order would probably be placed on Monday by the woman who does their online orders. Haven't received an email, or any communications from them for 5 days. Was finally was able to get the guy on the phone this afternoon- Wed 10/27 and he assured me that the build order was placed in Monday. And that's all I've got.
They didn't ask for a signed order or deposit. And when I asked about build priority- was told that they're a high volume & priority dealership so they get all their stuff first. (And after all I've read & seen online I obviously know that's not correct.)
Was also told they don't send email confirmations out when they place the order, and that I should get an email from Ford in 3-8 weeks. Basically when Ford has an estimate of a general build date & they assign a VIN number.
Unfortunately I find this system to be very clunky, and communication from this dealer wasn't good. So after 5 days of not hearing anything, & having to call them 3-4 times just to find out if the order was placed- my confidence was low, so I joined the Maverick club & started this thread.
Was also told be the salesman that I took the test drive with that I could order the truck at MSRP and if I didn't want it I didn't have to accept delivery.
But with all I'm hearing about last minute dealer markups & shenanigans at delivery- I'm not real confident in being offered the truck at MSRP when it fonalyy does show up in 6 months. Especially since I have no signed order.
And it's hard to go into a car dealership and try and tell those guys their business.
So am still checking for a So Cal Dealer with good positive reviews.
Don't really expect to find a Ford dealer selling Mavericks at a discount in So Cal.
But one with a quality reputation who's selling at MSRP, and actually knows the Maverick ordering system, and can communicate well would be very welcome news.
I'd prefer to not have to go all the way to Kansas to find a dealer who really knows their business.
I'm in the same area, and this is pretty much the same experience I had this week. One dealership got my DL and just never responded to any of my follow up emails so I tried another and they were very responsive until they got my DL. Then, no answers to my texts asking how soon the order would actually be placed. So I called the following day and they said it should be done soon but the person that does it is out sick. I started to wonder if not placing orders somehow benefits dealers...I called dealers around my area a couple months ago just to find a Maverick on a lot that I could sit in & check out. I would highly recommend Advantage Ford in Duarte. Order process took 20 minutes and I received my Ford confirmation email on the spot. Orders are priced at MRSP with no dealer fee (except $80 doc fee).Hi. I'm trying to order a Maverick in the So Cal, Rancho Cucamonga area. And there are a Bunch of Ford Dealers around.
Looking for recommendations for good knowledgable dealer to work with.
And any with Discounts?
Not afraid to drive 20-30miles if needed.
Want to get on-board for a Hybrid XLT with packages before Ford closes orders for Hybrids.

The one thing that is apparent with Ford dealerships / salespeople is a reluctance to saying too much, promising any dates or guarantying what the final production Maverick will be. As they started trusting me more they let me know it's because of the BRONCO. They had angry customers and had to change what they told them from month to month. Best of luck in your quest to get your order turned in.![]()
Yeah, I'm not ready to pay extra DMV fees to CA any more than I have to since they will tax the crap out of any vehicle purchased outside of the state, once you decide to register it.If buying from out of state CA then there are many hoops through if you live here, after all that’s why it’s called Taxifornia!!!
Glad it worked out. It was a different person that helped me, but same process. Seeing how quick it can be, doesn't it make you wonder what's going on at the other dealerships? Either they don't have a person dedicated to doing it or whoever is supposed to just doesn't want to or was not trained to...Thank you for all the replies I got and the attempts at help.
I wound up calling Citrus Ford today in Ontario to see what they had to say.
I got a guy named Vinny on the phone and told him I was looking to order a Maverick. He said I should speak with Jesus at their dealership, because he's been dedicated to doing their Maverick ordering. I left my name & phone number and told Vinny I'd come down to the dealership between 4-5 to place my order with Jesus.. 10-15 minutes later I got a call back from Jesus- asking about my interest in the Mav. I figured it was gonna be a basic salesmans pitch. But he was friendly & personable and seemed to know his stuff, not just the usual salesmans BS. And he said there was no need to even come into the delarship to place the order..
If had the "build" that I wanted saved from the Ford Maverick website- I could just text it or email it to him, and he'd place the order. He just needed the Link for my "Build", a picture of my Drivers License, and my email address.
He sent a text msg to my phone and I replied Yes- and then we were in official contact & communicating, & I sent him the info he asked for.
Less than an hour later he asked to verify if my address matched what was on my license. And maybe an hour after that he texted me to let me know there was an order contract for the truck for me to E-sign in my email.
It specified the model & the options I'd selected, with the MSRP prices, and also had the build priority code of 10 on it.
I texted Jesus again to verify I was just signing a contract to order the truck- and that I was in fact not "bound" to buy the truck when it arrives.
And he replied with: You are under no obligation to purchase the vehicle if you decide to change your mind.
I also asked about additional dealer add-ons or charges when the truck comes in, and he verified there will not be any. Just the usual tax & license stuff..
So I signed the Contract & sent it off.
Asked Jesus about what future communications to expect, and he said it's just a waiting game now. They really don't have any idea when Ford will get back to anyone with more info on the order.
But can't blame the dealers for that.
I'm just happy that I found someone who can communicate, knows their stuff, and gets things done in a timely manner.
This place was everything that the last dealership I went to wasn't.
This was great..
Now I have a numbered contract and firm confirmation that the order was placed with Ford-which was what I wanted to see..(and couldn't/didn't get from the previous dealer I went to.)
And I didn't have to put down any money, or even have take the time to go to the dealer to get a signed contract.. And it was all handled in less than 2 hours with a couple of phone calls & texts/emails.
And the dealership is only 9 miles from my house- so when it comes in, picking it up will be quick & convenient.
I really wanted an AWD XLT or Lariat with the FX4 & Tow packages. I like the look of the Lariat interior better- but was unhappy about the vinyl seats, and didn't like the almost $4000 price of the Lariat Lux Pkg.. (And the XLT Lux pkg was full of stuff I wanted. The Lariat Lux pkg- Not So Much..)
But Practicality, Truck Price, and rising Gas prices brought out the miserly guy in me, and I decided to go for my first Hybrid vehicle. Now I get to have a nice new little truck- with pretty much power everything- and I get it with gas mileage that's comparable to my daughter's Honda Civic!
SWEET!
I ordered the XLT in Velocity Blue, with the XLT Lux pkg & Co-Pilot 360. Also got the Manual Sliding rear window, Splash Guards, and a tailgate lock..
Thanks for all your help.
Nice to be part of the Mav Club!
