Original order was for myself, alone, so I opt to the XL thinking cruise control, and power mirror is not a big deal. I plan to get a set of aftermarket wheels anyway, and keep the steelers for winter tire so seems XL is a good option.
However, things changes.
Wife's VW junky Atlas spend way too many days at dealership than we expected so we traded in when our Maverick arrives.
And ever since she start to drive it, she loves it. Not only the new car smell, but the ride, the comfort, even the apply car play ready audio. Obviously the hybrid gas mileage is such a bonus. Our first tank is on its way to reach 1100 km. Unreal.
But since both of us compete the driver seat, the lack of power mirror really annoys. And she can't stand the steelers.
So, yesterday we put an order in for a XLT with dropin liner, hitch, and wheel lock.
I was joking with the salesman, with the huge markup, maybe I can simply exchange my old Maverick with the new one when it eventually comes in.
The order will be in status "balanced out" so likely won't be scheduled till 2023. But that is totally fine, we love our Maverick, and it will only get better.

I thought order bank was closed for MY22 and MY23 order bank was not open until late August.

I had the same question and was prepared to wait till August but to my surprise dealer said it is OK to put order in. Maybe it is Canada special?

Did the dealer actually put your order for a MY 2022 in with Ford? Or did he just take your "order" locally with a promise that he would put it in as a MY 2023 order when the order banks open in August? Let us know if it really goes in as a MY 2022 and you get to see its "balanced out" status.

BTW, I get it that you think this may be something that can only be done in Canada, but it seems doubtful to me. Mainly because it sounds like a way for people who didn't really order a MY 2022 to claim that their order was "rolled over" and try to jump the queue for MY 2023.

I would check with Ford Motor Company here on MTC. ROVP is closed. I don't think Ford is making exceptions because those ordered in 2021 must be completely fulfilled. Best of luck to the dealer.

Plus there is a section called Mavericks For Sale:
https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/forums/mavericks-for-sale.61/

Check it out!
Most likely won't work for me cause we have 12% tax. for a 30k vehicle that is 3.6k extra I need to get for sell privately than trade in.

I asked the dealer for the order confirmation and he sent me this. As far as I can tell it is the same as my first maverick order.
Thing is, looks Canadian was not able to track the build like American. I have to rely on dealer to give me any update. So I am not so surprised if there is difference.

Pretty sure Canadian orders were not shut off like they are here in the states, you should be good to go

That looks like the DORA my dealer created the day before I ordered (when I was just looking). Later, after I actually put in my order, I got one that was similar but with a difference.

The first one had the same language as yours saying "This order has not been submitted to the order bank." The second one didn't have that.

So ... just looking at yours ... I would say it indicates that your dealer has taken your order on their own books but has not sent it in to Ford. Which would make sense because as I understand it Ford isn't accepting orders now. That could be important because Ford is now saying they are going to fulfil orders based on the order date, which might mean the date it is submitted to Ford.

You can always ask your dealer for an updated DORA to see if it still says that it hasn't been submitted. Or do what I do, which is ask the salesman to show you the order in the Ford computer system that tracks the vehicle history.

You should get an email from Ford if your order was placed with them.

Never worked for me. Not sure if worked for other Canadians here. On my first Maverick order, I got absolutely no communication from Ford. My dealer, though, dropped me a few messages over the 8 months wait.

Ford doesn't email in Canada, so you won't get anything, just like the first time.
