I'm not sure if this is by design, or quirk of my truck. If the climate control is off, the auto start stop is also deactivated. I found no reference to this feature in the owners manual, but I like it. Included image indicates the climate control on/off for reference.

2020 Escape here, so have same/similar systems since Maverick is based on the Escape. My climate control is always in auto... I go for days with stop/start not working (winter/summer, no difference). Not been able to find any common denominate as to when it will work and when it doesn't. Dealer gives me bull shit about the system having specific parameters when it will work and when it won't, but does nothing. If you find why, let me know, may help me too. (new Maverick on order)

Auto stop start won’t operate if the computer thinks there is not sufficient cranking power to with the current battery charge compared to the current load — air conditioning, blower speed, infotainment, headlights, steering wheel angle (electric power steering I believe?)

and of course “sufficient cranking power” will shift as the battery ages — our 2018 escape doesn’t go into auto stop-start as often due to the original factory battery and because it sees fewer miles per week.

with both my 2022 Maverick and the 2018 escape I have found that there’s a lighter brake pedal pressure point where the car is held still at a stop light but the auto stop/start does not engage. If I press harder it will kill the engine.

And the battery is not a regular off shelf wet battery. It’s a more expensive AGM type. That auto S/S does taxes the battery.

Wife drives a 2017 Escape Titanium. Can tell when battery fixing to go…the auto S/S quits working. Time for new battery!

A lot nicer to just disable Auto Stop/Start with Forscan.

How to disable the start stop with forscan. I tried what they said on the forscan spreadsheet
It's in the EZ mode in plain English (Non-as built) in the PSCM module. Just change from enable to disable. The 2 other changes are optional
