I change mine every 5000 miles. Easy to figure that number out. Then every 10000 I do a tire rotation. I do not have to depend on any sensor. I go to the same place to have my oil changed every time and they put a sticker on the window that tells me when the next change is due. I also go to a dealer to have this done. I have watched the staff at one of those oil change places, and wonder about their intelligence. Have you noticed the staff changes over every time you have been there?

Check the dipstick? DI engines turn the oil black very quickly, just like a diesel. Doesn't mean the oil is 'dirty' or needs to be changed.

The 2.0 DI engine does not appear to have this issue. I have a high mileage one at 85k, and the Valvoline synthetic oil stays relatively clean until I change it at 7500. Maybe other manufacturers have too much blow-by to keep the crap out of the oil. Of course, I don't stand on the accelerator and spin the tires very often in this little overpowered monster, which would obviously increase blow-by dramatically...
