Did my 2nd oil change today, while she was up on the ramps and oil was draining I noticed that the drain plug was higher than the front of the oil pan. How does everyone drain their oil? My concern is how much oil am I leaving in the pan?
Traditionally i pull up on the ramps and get more room and assure better drainage.

I always use ramps. It's as much for me being able to slide under there as it is for the drainage. And after I remove the plug and filter, I just leave it for 1/2 hour or so, and it has completely stopped dripping at that point.

I always use ramps, so I’ve never noticed a height issue of the drain bolt/hole. I even run another little bit of new oil through the filler cap, before putting the plug back in, just to flush out more old oil.

Ramps do make it harder to shake it from side to side to really get the last bit out.

I've noticed several of my cars have done this, if not jacked up in the front, some is left.

I guess engineers figure the DIY is doing a lift on the front creating that improvement, and quick change place/dealer is using a suction hose down the dipstick tube so doesn't matter.

I think the pro days of the pit and lift are gone if they can at all be avoided.
Too long and liability.

Sadly,
Quick oil change places that use the the dip stick suction. Were forced into it because of lawsuits from actual and made up drain plug falling out scenarios.
