I hear plenty of referrals to use Blackstone, and I have a kit from them I’m about to send in.

However, I don’t like how they seem to always tell folks to extend their oil change frequency. I can figure my oil change frequency best myself - I’m the driver & a big boy. Not fat though.

I just want the data and an analysis of the data. I have a TSB on my VIN for potential oil dilution due to faulty high pressure fuel pump. That is a serious affliction & I want a second opinion.

Any recommendations for an oil analysis from someone besides “stretch out your interval” Blackstone?

Looking specifically for gas in my oil. It smells of gas - and I want to have data when I take my Maverick to Ford for the TSB.

In my experience with Blackstone, they only advise on oil longevity if you check the box on the ticket, which probably most of us who send in samples do. If you have a specific concern about dilution, you may want to note that on the slip regardless of who you send it to.

This next sample I send I may leave the box unchecked, as I'm losing coolant, albeit slowly, and I want to see if it's going through the engine.

If you don't like them telling you the truth, that your oil lasts much longer than you think it does, why bother testing the oil at all? Just change it a whatever more frequent interval that you make up because it makes you feel better.

I can’t handle the truth!

But seriously, the only reason I’m sending in a sample for analysis is that my oil cap smells (reeks) of gas & my particular Maverick has a TSB for gas entering the oil. Not good.

Before I bring it in to the dealer (or not - depending on results), I want independent data to have in hand.

Thanks! Just ordered a kit. $79.95 includes the prepaid return for the sample. I really enjoy the “Oil Geeks” YouTube channel & trust him to confirm/deny my oil dilution suspicion

When I send sample to Blackstone, I email, contact them letting them know, and add any details about the vehicle, it’s status.

After receiving sample report, reviewing it, if any queries, email them seeking answer. The outstanding query I been having was low viscosity and shearing. First samples was blended stuff. Switched to full synthetic and similar results.
