Quick question - Did your tonneau cover come with drain hoses or did you just elect not to use them? I have the Ford bed liner in our hybrid Maverick so if I want to use drain hoses I will have to enlarge the holes on both sides to accommodate the hoses. Thanks.

BTW, I will concur on most all of what you wrote here regarding any road noise, power, etc. Ours also had 11 miles on the odometer when it was filled up by the Ford dealer the day we brought it home. It now has ~240 miles on it and the gas gauge is just barely below the 3/4 mark (I realize some gauges drop much quicker after that point, but still impressive since it is only a 13.6 gal tank). A mix of driving, some with 12 mile trips each way between our home and the small city near us, and yesterday's drive that also involved about 30 miles of highway speeds between 70-75 mph. The drives into town average around 52+ miles per gallon, and the mix of speeds yesterday said we were attaining 45+ miles per gallon. I'm like you, trying to maximize MPG, but I have to say that so far we are very, very impressed. Best wishes.

The Lomax Stance tonneau cover doesn't come with drain hoses. Glad you're enjoying your truck too!

I'm glad to see someone talk about the Hill Descent. I got my truck las Friday and we took it for a drive across the island (We live Big Island Hawaii). It's 20 miles up grade and about 20 miles down grade (about 7deg grade both ways). It would really hold the speed going down. Great review btw.

The Lomax cover does not fit nearly as flush as my BAK MX4. The BAK also comes with drain hose to remove any water that gets into the rails.

I just didn’t like the idea of having to thread the straps between the gate and the bed every time I wanted to attach the pad. If I had kept it, I would have applied helicopter tape or ppf to the critical areas of the tailgate to prevent scratching and I would have cut slits in my bedrug for the straps to fit through.

Also, those tailgate bike pads rub against the paint, so anything the flies up in-between the tailgate & pad (like dirt) will be rubbing & scratching.

I'm no waxer -- I don't detail my cars even -- but as much as folks worry about scratches, I'm surprised how popular these bike pads are. A friend even uses them, and his truck must always be clean!

Just a small point……
If you think that the interior rear view mirror is too low……..
Someone else, on another thread, mentioned this about the mirror………
It has two pivot points in its mount. If you pivot the upper one all the way up, then pivot the lower back to a proper viewing angle, you’ll gain an inch or so in height. Also, it will come a bit closer to the eye, giving one a larger field of view.
Give it a try. I did, and was quite pleased.

Was it difficult to put on the Maverick lettering on the tailgate? Are they stickers that will be difficult to remove once they begin to fade or peal? I'd like to put them on my truck but I fear after a year or two they will look like crap and if I try to remove them I'll be left with sticky residue on my tailgate. I assume the bed rug doesn't have a tendency to get caught between the bed and tailgate and interfere with closing, is that true? You mentioned PPF when you were writing about window tinting, what's PPF?

The tailgate letters were easy to apply; especially compared to the oval emblems. The letters were stiffer which kept them from sticking where I didn't want them to. Because I was impatient to wait for the weather to warm up here in the PNW, I used a heatgun during the installation. Heat always helps promote 3m products adhere. I don't know how difficult they will be to remove or if they will leave a sticky residue behind when you do. Maybe someone else can answer that? I know tailgate letters are designed for this specific purpose so the materials used are supposed to hold up well to the elements. 3m has a pretty sterling reputation as well. I did not use a credit card, roller, or other device to firmly press the letters on. Just muscle. The letters are so small, no air bubbles really had a chance to form. At least that was my experience. It seems like air pockets are only a major worry when applying larger items. In the end, they're just stickers. Fancy stickers! Don't over-think it.

The bedrug xlt bedmat does not get caught in the gap. It fits and functions like it's OEM. I'll take a video of how the rug performs while the tailgate is opened and closed later today. I got my xlt mat for $180 from tonneaucovered.com and would probably pay $1000 for it. To me, it's that good. It's my favorite mod. It makes working in the bed so much nicer on the knees and I'm no longer cutting up my knuckles on the spray-in bedliner. Plus it keeps things you put in the bed from chattering, adds a little dampening so your items are less likely to bang against each other or the sides of the bed, puppies like to sniff them and curl up in sunny spots, it protects the bedliner or painted metal that lies underneath and most importantly, when someone wants you to haul a bed-load of gravel, you just pop open your tailgate, show them your bedrug and let them conclude for themselves, "Oh. you're that kind of truck owner."
(Actually the bedrug is designed to carry loads of gravel and other materials and holds up very well to the abuse).

After reading reviews and seeing photos of chipped paint, (especially on the Cactus Grey and Area 51 Mavericks) I decided to have paint protection film (ppf) applied. I got a partial package that covers the front bumper, the front third of the hood, the headlights, the front portion of the fenders, the mirror caps and door handle pockets. I was a little sad that the package didn't offer any protection for the tire-spray areas. I will keep an eye on these spots and apply protection if they look like they need it.

I new to using this forum and I get lost trying to navigate around. I think you said eBay or Etsy. Did you heat the tailgate or the stickers or both with the heatgun?

I heated the metal prior to application and then the letters and the metal, post application. If you wait for a 65ish or hotter day, you won't need a heat gun.
