Hello fellow New Englander's and those in the Mid-Atlantic.

After this Nor'Easter passes through this weekend please let us all know how your Mavericks handled the snow; specifically those with the FWD.

Thanks in advance.

We got 6" of powder here in NH... temps around 16 degrees F.
Not many people on the road so I decided to see how my FWD Hybrid XL handled with its Continental ProContact TX tires.
(I think of the Contis as "all-season" tires as in "spring/summer/fall" tires.)
I waited until the snowplow truck went by and another 2" of snow fell.

The Maverick was very reassuring in its handling during my short 1-mile test drive.
When I went slowly uphill in 2" of snow I could feel the tires slip some and I saw the traction control light flicker on and off so I kept gentle pressure on the accelerator and we kept going.
By the time I got home to my unplowed driveway with 6" of snow, the tire treads were cold and packed with snow so I could not make it up the slope into my garage without backing up and getting a running start.

My conclusion is that in an emergency I could drive my FWD Maverick through snow with its Continental ProContact TX tires.
However if I didn't have another car with proper Blizzak DM-V2 snow tires, I would drive to my local tire shop and replace the Contis today.
Hmm... I wonder if I could trade them in?

It's snowed here in the Mid Atlantic, probably 3-4 times in the last 3.5 weeks. The Maverick AWD, and even the stock Pirellies (FX4) are awesome in snow. The brakes/stability, whatever try to keep the truck doing it's thing. Slippery mode really helps you take off from a start on icy roads, it's noticeable.

hey there, Wilton Connecticut here. Got just under a foot of snow and only did minor city driving. my own road although had 6 plus inches on the road since last plowed. handled it seamlessly and although I don't want to get to cocky, I am very confident driving it in the snow now

AWD + Slippery mode here (southern NH), and zero issues to report.

We had about 5" of snow and no problems driving during the storm with a Hybrid front wheel drive. No problems driving during the other minor storms we had also. The stock tires are decent for now. When they are worn they will be replaced with Firestone Destination LE2 tires. I have used them on my Kia Sedona van for many years. They are one of the best all around tires you can get.
