I keep getting flashed when driving at night. I have the auto high beams on and the oncoming drivers see them turn off but still flash. Any advice?

You should be able to adjust them down if you think they are too high. Ford has a video on YouTube on how to adjust them.

It all depends on where you live. The newer car population etc. In some areas the older folks don’t understand, the headlights are “whiter” in appearance so they look/seem brighter but in reality as long as they are adjusted correctly it’s actually causing less glare. Hey I had double cataract surgery just over a year ago and the newer style headlights bugged me before the surgery. Now it’s the older ones that just kinda bug me now. You can’t adjust intensity but you can adjust angle.. or maybe just manually turn on and off high beams..

I think a lot of people just are not use to newer head lights. Sometimes is just has to do with the height of the headlight to the height of the driver in the other vehicle. I had to drive my grandmother around for a few days years ago. This is when after market bulbs was starting to be common. She was always complain about other drivers leaving the bights on. She was short so she away got some intense reflection from the hood or they shined right in her face. I kept telling her they are not on the light is just level with your face and more intense. Then she would go off about how she hated the color.

I myself used to get flashed for my bright lights when I had the automatic setting turned on… since I turned it off, I have not been flashed (in my opinion was more annoying than useable and frequently going on/off for traffic)

Did you try setting the auto dim option to the farthest setting? That might help. But if the oncoming driver sees your lights dim & still flash you, are they looking where they are going or maybe they come from a diluted gene pool. I have learned to make sure the other driver sees me dim my lights & always keep my hand on the lever so if they flash me they get it right back.

Turn off the auto high beam setting. See if that helps.

I haven't felt the need to adjust my Maverick headlights, but when I got a new Forester a couple years ago, the headlights were DEFINITELY too high and blinding oncoming drivers. The beam cutoff would shine right in their eyes from about 10 carlengths away.

It's worth checking to see if they are aimed correctly.

Sometimes my auto brights will go bright for a second then dim again so that it appears to the oncoming car that you are flashing them. Maybe they are just flashing you back.

Dis you install a leveling kit or change your suspension in any way? Your lights might need to be adjusted
