Noise from Struts

Seems like noise from the struts is occurring very early than expected.

Several posts have shared that it was from the strut bushing, but it took awhile to confirm.

I had a front strut bearing failure. Clicking and popping when turning. Replacement was not very difficult but not impressed with the quality of the OEM bearing assembly. Cheap plastic and small bearings for a critical component.

Usually it is strut bearings that wear out first, and are the first component in a strut system that makes noise.

There are no struts in the rear...

The noise could be the sway bar end links. I know my Ford Focus ones rattle especially hitting bumps. Bad design. I prefer the regular nut and bolt ones.

Had the front left strut mount replaced under warranty due to clunk/thumping noise at just over 15k miles.

The front struts on my 2023 Explorer Timberline had a low speed rattle right out of the gate and it took the dealer a month to diagnose and get replacements.

2025 AWD Lariet Hybrid.

Replaced under warranty around 32k front passenger.

Being replaced again under parts warranty at 48k.


I drive tons of dirt roads and sounds like this is my life. So I'll keep making them replace it for as long as they will for free then sounds like I need to upgrade it.
