Hey everyone, Ordered my XLT in September, got the confirmation email immediately (and the free kit email later on) but never have received a VIN or even an order number. My local salesman is nice but clueless, and Ford HQ customer service was no help at all and stopped replying to me. So now unsure if it's actually in the queue and being built. Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions on what I can do? It's getting much harder for the wifey and I to get our jobs and all in one car and it's affecting my work hours negatively too. Thinking of bailing on this whole thing. Any advice appreciated.

Order number will be on the paperwork you signed with the dealer, ask for a copy, mine was not responding when I asked for it so I told them it was to secure a loan with my bank and I had it 20 minutes later. You won't get a vin until you've been scheduled.

Ask your salesman for a copy of your purchase order or DORA. It will have an order number and sales code in the top right. Then call Ford's customer service number and give them those two numbers and they can look up your order. They wont be able to to tell you much more than whether or not its in order processing, scheduled, built, etc. but at least you'll know your order is in. Then just sit back and wait on every Thursday to hopefully receive a scheduling email.

Thank you both for replying. I never got paperwork from him, just did the agreement of intention to buy after doing the reservation online for it at his desk. Nothing more. We talk or text frequently and have asked about it and he said they're is nothing like your say. Ford told me the same. I'm so discouraged. I'm go back to them with yall's suggestions. Thank you!

Update: Found the paper with only a sales code. Emerged it on Ford's tracker and it just says invalid order number, plus it requires both the order no. and VIN to track its progress. Good grief.

You cannot track your build on fords site until you get a VIN. You do not get a VIN until you're scheduled for production. You need your order number and sales code in order for Ford to look up your order in the system. Here is an example from elsewhere on the forum. Whomever it is whited out the info for security reasons I guess but I circled where to get those numbers. You should have signed this exact paper when placing your order.

The salesman got resent it to me just now. Yeah you're right, it's useless to use the tracker until you get the VIN. So those 2 codes (I see them now) also have no meaning as far as tracking, tried it too. This is all so weird. Thanks again friend.

With those two numbers, you can call Ford and at least verify your in the system, and the truck was ordered under your name (and not the dealers). Depending on who answers your call, you may get additional information. If you got the FITS email, your probably good, though

If you ordered in September there's a 95% chance you haven't even been scheduled yet. You're probably going to get the scheduling email in late Jan or early Feb, for build in March or April...IMO

Yikes! Yeah using one car is getting more difficult. But thanks for the honest possibility, needed to hear it.

When I went in about the Maverick back in Sept., the sales guy said it would be December. I also work with another set of dealerships (Ford not one of them) as a consultant and they have been getting their new vehicles within 9-12 weeks pretty steadily. So based on both of those two things, we calculated 3 months of waiting and I sold the second car b/c its value climbed and got it paid off that way. It has turned out now to be not what it was told to be, so that is why I ask. Thanks for replying though and we'll do our best in the meanwhile. Thx again.

Buy a clunker till your truck is built or like you said just fall back and punt

Regardless of what you both decided to estimate, it was purely speculation. At that point, the dealer should have known the Hybrids were not yet ok to buy, and were in higher demand than Ford had anticipated. There wasn't even an approved for sale date at that point. Not sure how you could have arrived at a likely end of year delivery date with all of that info available (with a few quick searches...or the dealer knowing what is going on!).

Yep, agreed. Just went by their guidance - but going feel like he was deceiving in any way but just going with the info they're we're given at the time. I did talk to him about buying a clunker or new base model small car in the meanwhile but even the salesman said "as a salesman I'd like to sell you one but personally feel that may be risky and could lose some money." I appreciated his honesty. Thanks for the reply, appreciate everyone's advice.
