The mistake your dealer may have been making is trying to add the hitch to an order that already has the LUX package (which includes the hitch). If he was trying to do that, he would either get an error or a prompt that the LUX package would be removed.

If ford decided not to offer a tow hitch for let’s say fear of law suites, they would stop the option immediately not stop it on orders that will arrive in 3 to 6 months. I think the dealer is wrong, everyone on this site knows much more than the people at the dealers. $100 for a hitch is the best deal ever but I would like a 7 pin connector Option.

Thanks for the replies, Yes I was not happy with they reduced the price of my order by the cost of the hitch.

Let's see if it comes with my Lux Package or not...

It is part of the lux pkg which is why you couldn’t add it to the order separately.

Just picked my XLT up last week, front wheel drive, and had the hitch installed at the factory. No problems.
