Ordered a Roadmaster faceplate for my 23 xlt hybrid cactus gray. I've read the posts about the air dam removal but was willing to suck it up because I wasn't going to butcher the fascia. Watched you tube videos in preparation for installing myself. Removed the fascia
(😵‍). Took out the one piece faceplate expecting 2 end plates and the cross bar. WTH? Well folks...new design. No removing the lower air dam parts. 2 small slits in the rubber cowling of the air dam. Sweet!

I bought and installed the 1st gen Roadmaster baseplate for my 22 XLT Maverick. After one year of towing, I have accumulated about 10k of tow miles. Never had a problem with turning radius or other issues, but yes, my lower shutters were removed. I have now driven the Mav in all seasons and never had a problem due to the shutter removal. The Mav has 15k driving miles and 10k of tow miles. Did I correctly notice that your new design baseplate does not allow you to remove the tow bar connectors?
Good luck on the road!!

One other comment, looking at you pics again the tow bar connection appears to be on the inside of the safety chain connection. With the 1st gen setup I have a full 26 inch width between the tow bar connection. The tow bar connection is outside the safety chain connection. What does yours measure?

thanks, just wondering,

That looks like a DEMCO baseplate #9519360 complete with the holes for the DEMCO plastic plug covers.

It does NOT look like either of the two Roadmaster baseplates available on the Roadmaster page (#524470-4 or -5).

I am 99% sure that is the DEMCO baseplate. Yes, the shiny pieces that hook to your towbar are removable. Demco even provides covers for the holes.

Duh! That's embarassing! Yes, it's a Demco. Got that mixed up with all the different brands of things I'm using on this project...

Glad you noted this. I am a long-time Roadmaster fan, but was disappointed in their Maverick offering, and Blue Ox is likely to have some litigation, based on their failures noted by a couple of members here in MYC, like @realshelby . I WISH they'd re-engineer their baseplate like Demco and hoped there was something new from Roadmaster.

Can you share where you found it? Kevin at Demco suggested they were going to stop selling directly after their original struggle with a couple of us trying to get it right...and I see the DEMCO website has gone back to stating it is in production, instead of allowing direct purchases.
