New owner looking for advice

Picked up my 23 Mav Lariat Hybrid yesterday. And of course I immediately started to look at accessories I could waste spend money wisely on. My first purchase will be a bed liner. Will get that from Ford using points. I'm looking at the tailgate soft open strut, hood struts, tonneau cover, mud flaps, fender flares, window wind deflectors and hood wind deflector. Anything else you would suggest? Any particular manufactures to use/avoid? Thanks for any suggestions and or advice.

Old Norm: Not sure how old you are (I'm 79) but you have to be VERY old not to be able to raise and lower the Mav tailgate....... with two or three fingers!!!!! After raising and lowering the tailgate on my old Ram pickup with both arms and one shoulder, I have to be careful not to slam the Mav's tailgate and bend something!!!! Wisely wait and see if you decide you need this after buying all the other "necessary" mods!!!!! My two cents!!

I have been happy with my Mabett mud flaps and Tyger T3 soft trifold tonneau, both from Amazon, and EGR in channel window visors from Realtruck. I did get a discount from Realtruck as mentioned.

Tailgate assist is a must. You need both spoilers, tailgate appliqué, and hood scoop too!

My 96 Bronco is a beast of a tailgate, easily takes 50lbs of initial force to lift. They came with a tension rod inside. But I have had 2 of em snap and gave up on em. Since I fear they would break my glass. The Maverick tailgate is like lifting a toilet seat compared to that. Of course the ladies will remind us that even that is too heavy for most men to lift.

True, the tailgate is light and the assist is not a requirement, but it is nice to have. Especially if you're trying to open the tailgate with your arms full of stuff you're about to load in the bed.

It's one of the accessories I would install again if buying a new truck.

Like upgrading my sound system I am on the fence about the tailgate assist. This being my 7th truck and never feeling the need for one, or for that matter having experienced using one on any truck tailgate.
What I am wondering is weather or not there is any resistance when you close the tailgate, since I find this task more of an issue?

I have to say I never got the idea of the hood struts. I just don’t open the hood often enough for that. I have the tailgate strut which to me makes more sense but I haven’t gotten around to installing that yet.

Tonneau cover, SIBL, mud-flaps, bug deflector so far for me.

Slight resistance, but certainly not enough to be any issue at all.

When you do, remove some of the loctite on the tailgate bracket bolt, before installing that bracket. It will make installation of the bolt much more easier to do. Also take a sharpie and mark a spot on the bolt head showing where the vertical part of the nut is located on the bolt. That will help when tightening it down, to get the nut facing the right direction when you tighten it. This was suggested by another MTC member and it made it much easier to install correctly.

Norm, I second CG's comment. I almost ordered a tailgate assist while I was waiting on my truck to arrive. For once, my procrastination paid off. The tailgate on my Maverick is very light weight compared to the 2011 Ranger I traded in as well as every other truck I've owned. I was quite surprised. You also can get one with little/no waiting once you get your truck so I would suggest that this is not something to buy before your truck comes in. My suggestion for a pre delivery purchase is lettering for the tailgate. It really makes a difference in the look from the rear. I went with chrome letters on my Atlas Blue, but there are lots of photos of virtually every color truck/lettering on MTC. Enjoy!!

No I don’t need a tailgate assist, but I love it! Every time I use it, I like it. Mud flaps Muslogy or your choice. Tailgate letters of your choice, and maybe tint driver and pass windows to your taste/laws. Also a step if you wish and bedmat.

i see no point in hood struts. how often will you be opening the hood on this engine?
as for mudflaps, i suggest the Mabett ones on amazon.
