Painting advice for side mirror caps?

I picked up some side mirror caps and Area51 Automotivetouchup.com paint and clear. Need advice on how to prep and paint mirror caps. I haven't painted plastic before. Should I prime the caps first? Any advice appreciated. Thanks

clean with alcohol or some acetone,prime and paint/clear

be advised (i have a set of those) the paint, and i use that term loosely, they use comes off easily, i used 90% iso alcohol to clean them before i shot them with matte black and it took the color right off in some spots. never got mine to fit very well but they look ok.

I did a dry fit of the caps and they seem to fit very well. Thanks for the info.

Light 320 skuff then adhesion promoter on the plastic part keeps from peeling now you’re ready for primer then color and finally the clear coat

I ordered the Duplicolor adhesion promoter yesterday. Thanks for all the good advice!
