Update: Dealer did alignment as it was off. They also rotated tires. It is 100 percent better on the city roads and 90 percent better on highway. Was most definitely the alignment. Cannot believe a new vehicle that was out of alignment! Centers really good now instead of constantly correcting direction.

25+ years in the car business on the factory side and I have seen brand new vehicles with less than 10 miles have alignment issues due to how they were tied down and shipped to the dealer (usually the Toe setting). However, the dealer is paid by the factory to perform a Pre-Delivery Inspection that should include a short test drive to check for any issues. In the real world very few techs actually do the test drive part of the PDI other than to the local gas station to put in fuel.

As the Service rep I could charge back PDI claims if a customer had an issue that should have been done during the PDI and the dealer submitted a claim.

I'm glad you got your issue resolved. And as I told many a customer over the years. Your mileage will vary from the sticker on the window and 95% of the time the mpg will lower due to how the cars are tested for the EPA. Not saying that is a good thing but that has been my experience.

Also winter gas as well as the amount of ethanol in the fuel will reduce your mpg. If you can find fuel with no ethanol where you live, try a tank or 2 and manually check your mpg.
