Greetings from California's central coast. I'm recently in the market for a new Mavrtick, and have already learned a lot from this site. Thank you.

I'm in no hurry, so I'm taking the time to decide what I want and determine the best way to get it. I'm inclined toward an XLT hybrid AWD, but may end up with a Lariat.

First question: has anyone purchased through Costco? If so, how did the final price compare with what you could get otherwise?

Thanks for any pre-purchase advice you'd care to offer.

I've bought two Hondas through Costco and had great experience; however, the past three Fords have come from a dealer that was able to provide better price and service.

My Maverick was custom ordered directly through the dealer and price was below what Costco could get me by about $300.

Thanks, that's the kind of advice I was looking for. Much obliged.

I don't know if this applies to you, but Ford just extended their first time buyer program.

https://www.jackpowellford.com/first-time-buyer-program.html

Besides, these ford dealerships have access to more discounts and incentives.

Just something to munch on. Good luck! Hope to see some pics soon!

Call Kevin Swanson, the Internet Sales Manager at Paso Ford. He will take great care of you and ensure you get the best possible deal. If you don't want to wait for a special order and you don't find what you want on the lot, ask him to show you the incoming inventory list. That's how I found my fully loaded Lariat Hybrid. Exactly what I was looking for and I'm 9K miles into a great experience with a truck that checks all the boxes for me.

I tried, but the one time I went through Costco, I found that I could get a better deal on my own. The reason being that the Costco-aligned dealership had the best pricing...before the mandatory dealer-installed accessories. I didn't want DIAs anyway, so I was able to find a better deal.

Since you're not too far from Reno, you might want to check out Corwin Ford. They regularly sell below MSRP because their idea is to take a loss on individual sales in order to get volume sale kickbacks from Ford. Here's an XLT hybrid AWD that is on the lot:
https://www.corwinfordreno.com/inve...verick-xlt-awd-4d-crew-cab-3fttw8j36trb16424/

When I was making sales inquiries earlier this year, Corwin Ford's OTD price came out to be like easily $5,000 less than the exact same spec unit here in the greater LA area. In fact, their price for a brand new unit was cheaper than the lease returns with 10-20k miles that were just starting to pop up at the time.

It'll be a bit of a hassle to import the vehicle into CA, but it might be worth it. I calculated that my travel there and driving the vehicle back would run up to less than $800.

JJMM and notfast, thanks for the suggestions. I'll look into both.

Well, at my advanced age I've bought quite a number of new vehicles. But thanks anyway!
So !
Your one of us, I see,
Good, us old fuggars need to replenish our ranks.

:’P

If you choose to save a couple C-notes with a dealer be cautious.
Shop the dealers, be thorough.
More that just a few are bad news.

This Is The Way !

Completely think through your XLT vs Lariat decision. The Lariat is much quieter due to sound deadening windshield.

Yes, I'm leaning toward the Lariat, for that and a few other reasons. I just came back from a walk-around of a friend's 1 month old XLT and was very impressed overall. The fit & finish looked great, better than I expected, and the seats were a bit on the small side but very comfortable.

Currently my primary vehicle is a 2015 Silverado Z71, and it is exceptionally comfortable. But I'm getting tired of wrestling that beast around tight parking lots. So...it's a Maverick for me.
