Hello everyone,

I am not a Ford Maverick owner at the moment but it is a dream future vehicle for me as I have started having a fascination with pickup trucks for the past several years. My current vehicle is a 1999 Honda Accord, DX trim with 2.3L engine. It has good gas milage for its age, is in good condition and has 154,000 KM on it. I joined this forum to join this community, to be a part of it to help with my motivation of getting towards my goal.

I like then idea of owning a pickup truck, but due to high price, fuel consumption I figured it was not worth it. Now that the newly reimagined Ford maverick is making headway and has good MPG for a vehicle of its size I am interested in it as a future new vehicle option. I am interested in a hybrid AWD option for the Maverick if Ford does it as a future configuration as I do want good gas milage that the hybrid offers, yet I want the AWD for optional off roading as I have always wanted a vehicle to explore logging roads, off-road trails in good dry conditions where I live.

Welcome!

Hopefully future model years will include hybrid with AWD. The AWD in the ecoboost version has been reported to be reasonably capable at "soft roading" as you describe.

This forum has been a wealth of information and hopefully all your questions can be answered to help you decide which configuration is best for you.

Not trying to be crass here, but the Maverick Hybrid AWD is in fact a "Dream Truck". If you intend to wait for this configuration at least you will have a few years to save up. Good thing your Honda should be good for another 150K...

I like then idea of owning a pickup truck,
I noticed that you don't try to justify this thinking by saying you "need a truck". That's a very good purchasing outlook.

I have always wanted a vehicle to explore logging roads, off-road trails in good dry conditions where I live.
One doesn't need a truck to achieve this; go look at a subaru forum for instance. Wanting a hybrid and AWD? See: Toyota rav4 hybrid, Ford Escape hybrid. Both are excellent vehicles and you can "camp" inside them when needed (always my plan B when I camp). Add roof rack and/or hitch, and the list of things one can't carry vs a 4ft bed fall dramatically. Want to get more serious? Add real off-road tires/wheel package (mileage will suffer).

GOOD LUCK!

Welcome! Sounds kinda similar to me, I’ve always wanted a truck, cost and fuel consumption so I’ve had a bunch of commuter cars (mostly Honda’s and Toyota’s) and “family 3rd vehicle” SUVs…. Had never bought a brand new vehicle before (have bought some with sun 5k miles but never “new”)…

moved from Ca to New England and had to leave my Toyota behind…. Started looking for a 4wd truck, searching for months and suddenly Ford Mavericks start popping up in my searches at $21.49k…. Researched heavily and realized it was exactly what I needed, but had to have at least AWD, so the EB was it…. Couldn’t wait for a custom building so I started stalking the Ford order site for dealer ordered models and was able to test drive a demo and get an AWD XL with a $500 fully refundable deposit with a 3 week wait…. 30 days into ownership I have minor gripes but no actual complaints…. I love it, and more importantly the wife loves it (which is hard to achieve). If it wasn’t for the Maverick, I probably would have ended up buying yet another used SUV for more than I paid for the Mac… I’m extremely happy with the maverick and it’s exceeded my expectations while allowing me to own my first “truck” as well as my first brand new vehicle

if they do come out with an AWD hybrid, I’ll probably sign up for it

I do a lot of city driving, but need AWD. I'm going to fill up my first tank this morning with 2.0EB. Averaged 24.5 MPG. Hybrid sure would be nice. My driving patterns would put me around 40 for sure in a Hybrid. I may trade mine back in if they come out with Hybrid AWD or Plug in Hybrid AWD down the road.

The hybrid AWD will happen, but not for a 2 or 3 years. As long as you are sensible the hybrid with some A/T tires will probably do 90% of what you want to tackle. But if you really want awd I'd look at subaru tbh. Or wait for whatever GM or toyota comes out to compete with the mav.
