I am new on this so please be gentle with me. I recently bought a used 2022 Ford Maverick AWD with the 2.0 liter engine with the ELT trim level and FX4 package on it. I been looking for a while and finally found a vehicle that actually fits what I like in a vehicle that gets decent fuel mileage and AWD was a requirement of mine for the area I live in western Washington state.

This nice clean little pickup is the perfect size and I had years ago a 1980 Toyota pickup but once the small pickups went on bring diet of overeating metal I went away and had a couple Dodge Ram 2500's a 1996 Dodge Ram 2500 with the V10 and then I got a 2004 Dodge Ram with the 5.9 Cummins. Recently I had a the 2004 Dodge Ram and then for around town errands and general usage I had a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox LT with the 1.6 liter diesel. IN June last year I decided since I am retired that the Ram did not fit as it was a giant and getting harder for me to maneuver around in and I sold it and pocketed the cash. Then when I also knew that Chevrolet made a big f up to its customers that bought the diesel engines in these cars as they put a timing belt between he engine and trans, yes a timing belt there but why so that the mechanics, dealers can get a trip to Tahiti off the retirees that bought these. The second issue was the Equinox was rear ended and repaired by a body shop back in August last year and I knew that car was short in my world.

So I was a looking and I tested several different versions of the Maverick in a Hybrid and the 2,0 liter and I liked the 2.0 EB the best. So here I am here and with a eco boost Maverick first year that I picked up used.

Since I spent ten years as a vehicle mechanic and then over 30 years as a aviation mechanic before I retired in 2017 I can and do a lot of my own maintenance

Oh I am still poking around and getting information. the dealership that sold me the Maverick was a Chevy dealer and they changed the oil and put new Pirelli tires on the Maverick but I have to poke around and do a complete check out of the truck and I replaced the air filter and cabin air filter as both really needed to be replaced. I got to check around and see if the fuel filter if it has one needs to be replaced also.

I got mine from a Chevy dealer as well. They changed the oil and filter but it didn't need anything else since it only had 3,150 miles. Sounds like you are doing the right stuff.

Hello and welcome to MTC. Congratulations on your Maverick. Thanks for joining and posting with pictures. Just wondering how you liked it so far? Also congratulations on your retirement.
The impressions and comparisons I have is from both the Ram and Equinox. The comparison to the Ram is night and day. The ride comfort seating and the general driving is so much better. Towards the end of owning the Ram I was not fully using the truck for its intended purpose and that was tow a fifth wheel travel trailer and the trailer was sold as we were not using it in the last few years. So I was driving a 6,000+ pound truck for dump runs and generally leaving it in the garage for months at a time. I selling it was a good move as I got what I paid for the truck ten years ago.

The impression and comparison to the Equinox is so similar it was uncanny as the Equinox had a sport suspension and the ride was very similar to the ride in the Maverick except I have a bed attached to the back. Seat comfort is very similar to both vehicles and the only thing I am missing is the fuel economy of the Equinox but with diesel running from 90 cents to a $1.20 a gallon higher here I say it was a wash with the comparison. I find the features of the Maverick a bit strange as it does not have blind spot monitoring, lane keeping (which I personally hate and shut off in the Equinox) and the Equinox had adaptive cruise control which I did like. But the automatic headlights not he Equinox did not have auto dim and high beam that the Maverick has and it caught me off guard the first time I set the headlights in auto and it went from low beam to high beam. I immediately appreciated that right away.

IN short handling is similar in both the Equinox and Maverick but a night and day difference from the Ram. Yes each vehicle has it advantages and disadvantages but overall I really like the Maverick as it is so much like the old Toyota pickup I had but with much better sound insulation and I also like the automatic in the Maverick over the 4 speed stick I had in the Toyota and both the Toy and the Mac get similar fuel mileage.

I bought my 2022 ecoboost truck xlt as a retirement present to my self.great little truck to just get around in and haul the little stuff in.i can get in and out alot easier and has enough power and ride and handling is great.BUT,i hate that knob shifter!
Great choice for us old folks ! I still have my 93 Chevy truck to haul and tow with, and being a performance guy my crown jewel 1999 lightning still takes care of my speed
And performance when i need it.sure is nice to be retired also.

Just a small tip ! Get some good metal clips and screws to replace the junk ones on the cover on bottom of engine.as a mechanic you know they will drop sometimes when you change the oil .the stock ones are junk.i know i dropped my share years back😝

Congratulations, I had a 2022 I’d got new, just traded in for a 2025 hybrid AWD. I’m in western Washington too, happy to have the AWD.
