Old caps faded…

New caps…

The finish on the new caps look to be more fade resistant. I’ll see in time.
Wow, that is a lot of red. Very nice!
I like those rims. Would you guess that they weigh less than XL steelies?
I'm a waiting for my 25 carbon grey XL. Looking at your close up pics, there is a step. I think a body color match up outside and a gloss black deeper would look sharp. Would you agree?

Body color matchup? Gloss black deeper? What are you talking about?

There is a sort of step to the casting in the spokes of the rim. I could paint the daintier part at the outer face to match the color of the truck and black out the deeper recession near the brakes.

Something like this?

I saw this was an option after I had already mounted the ones I have.

I wouldn't worry about it, the lack of black is refreshing IMO. The red really is unique and matches the truck so well!

The old caps look better from a distance. But look terrible close up. lol
Color matching paint and plastics is often a crap shoot.
I see they changed their center cap design/color (maybe as a result).

The problem with the old caps is that the sun bleaches the color out pretty quickly. They went from candy red to light orange.

Yep, that's what I was thinking as far as my truck. Carbon metallic where the red is on that, much more subtle on a grey truck.
I really like what you did on your truck. The red on red looks great. I also like the spoke pattern on them.

Thanks. I am an over the road truck driver so I have a lot of time to research and plan what I want to do with it. There is still a bit of trial and error to get what I like.

Thanks, that would look awesome on a carbon grey metallic Mav. I'll probably stick with the steelies for a while, but will definitely keep these in mind. I've also thought about beauty rings with a gunmetal chrome, then re chroming the center cap gunmetal also and spray the steelies black.
I always liked the color matched "rally" rims that Oldsmobile put on the Cutlass Supreme in '72.
