Yeah I sold those awful bright aluminum Lariat teeth, I mean wheels, for $1100. Was so happy! Ultimately the change from the stock 18-in set up to the 20-in setup I did aftermarket only cost me about $300! I'm just hoping to sell current Maverick making equity and get new one fully paid off. Did the math and with my order and the sales tax and fees, should be about $31,800 for new one. Anything I get over 34k on my Lariat is gravy... Plus the tax credit!

All good. It is selling it before the recall is performed... but that's because Ford has not created the solution yet. That's their problem... Should I be penalized for the problem they created that they can't solve yet? I know if I did a private sale or traded into a different brand dealership that's a diff story. I'm guessing this isn't a very common occurrence too.
Where I live, you have 30 days either side of buying a new vehicle, to sell your old one in order to get your sales taxes reduced.
That being said, IMO, selling a vehicle to an individual is not worth the hassle any more. It becomes even more complicated if potential buyers can't pay cash. IMO, the best method nowadays is to see what CARVANA, Carmax, etc. will buy it for, and compare that to what the dealer is offering. Then go with the best price and be done with it.

That's the path I'm on... But once I get a build date I think I'll list the '22 online for a cash only offer above the online offers and see if I get any bites. Can't hurt

Im not paying a premium price if the possibility exists I'll lose my vehicle for 1 week to 10 weeks. Once recall is done its all good.
The seller should wait till the recall is preformed IMO.

That would be ideal, however I have to trade in/sell my truck when the 23 Maverick comes in, or I won't be able to get it. So I'm at Ford's mercy of getting the recall resolution before my 23 Maverick is built! Sucks

CarMax, Carfax, CarGurus, local dealerships... Several other references... Just a few attached here. I'm sure things are going to start on their way down, but they are still pretty high.

Just as a point of reference, when I was selling my 2015 Chevy Silverado HD (Diesel), I took it to CarMax and got their offer first. Then I too it to the Chevy dealer where I had purchased (and serviced) it. CarMax offered right around $55,000 for it - within $300 of what we paid for the vehicle 7 years ago. The dealer's "best and final" offer was only $32,500. I actually laughed in the used car manager's face, and showed him the CarMax offer sheet. He looked me straight in the eye and said "They'll never give you that much." Needless to say, CarMax got the vehicle, and I brought the check to show to the Chevy used car manager.
This was a straight sale, versus a trade-in, but it probably reflects the "true value" the dealer would have given on a trade-in. A trade-in (in Texas) does have the advantage of reducing the sales tax by reducing the net price of the new vehicle (by the trade-in value), but it may or may not be advantageous, depending on what the other guys are willing to give you.

I asked my salesman about both last week when I picked up my Maverick. Mine was built Oct 8 and there were no outstanding recalls on it. Anything built after that shouldn't either. Also, I may trade mine back in a year or so if I like the new Ranger better. He said lift or lowering kits, larger aggressive or ugly wheels, non OEM decal kits, paint, etc. would lower their trade in offer. YMMV

Well I have larger 20" wheels, but they're definitely not ugly... Also have vinyl decals installed over the Ford logos, but those can be removed easily. I'm looking at buying stock size wheels and selling the 20's privately to offset cost because CarMax said they would give me $1500 more. But all depends on dealership trade in value.
For me, the price is the biggest drive about the Maverick..so no Ranger for me, but good luck!
