Need help navigating pricing options

I hope to order an XLT with floor trays, 110v, spray-in bed liner, trailer hitch and 360. I am not in a rush to get the truck.

I am considering the following to get the best deal possible:

1. Granger Ford at invoice -3% with courtesy delivery within 2-3 hours drive from my home. Not sure if Granger does CDs.
2. X Plan through Ford stockholder, Mustang Club or EAA membership, from a dealer within easy driving distance in GA or SC.
3. First responder discount. I assume this is a Ford program with no approval needed by the dealer and is applicable to any sale.

Any advice would be very much appreciated!

Best bet is to reach out to granger.

For a fairly simple XLT build the first responder discount might be a better deal than X-plan unless you live somewhere they routinely charge a ton in doc fees.

Have you checked Chapman in Pennsylvania? They would be closer to you and I think they do courtesy deliveries. Also I’m sure Long MacArtur does courtesy delivery origination.

The first responder discount is $500. If Ford offers any additional offers, I guess even MRSP isn't a bad deal. If Granger doesn't do CDs, shipping or a rental car/motel/meal expenses would almost equal the savings at Granger.

I think I read that Chapman is ending their invoice -4% deal. I know others are buying from Chapman and using dealers a couple hours from me for the CDs. Anybody know the latest on Chapman?

Chapman is doing 3% off ecoboost orders only and no CD from what I think I read somewhere. They must already have too many hybrid orders and extending the wait by adding more orders is probably not great business.

I think I have read this recently as well. Was there a dealer that is covering shipping to the buyer if they finance through the dealer?

OP - with that build buying from Granger will save you in the neighborhood of $1,500 (the discount ends up being about 6% give or take). Have you considered flying in and driving home? Even after a flight and 2 nights hotel, you could be saving $6-800, and have a small trip getting to know your brand new truck!

The cost becomes significantly better if you have a travel related rewards credit card that you can leverage to cover those costs. Last October I'd been looking for a Fiat for my wife. For whatever reason (I believe these were fleet vehicles), there were a large # of 2018 Fiats that were basically all the same trim (White, upper trim Lounge) that were scattered across the country. I searched nationwide and found that the same cars selling here in Minneapolis for $14-15K were available out in the pacific northwest for under $12K. Ended up buying one for $11K, flew out, 3 nights hotel travelling back all on rewards so my only cost was time and meals.

It was a great quiet trip! I'd never done this before, despite this being around the 20th vehicle we have owned between us. I will never hesitate to do this in the future, it was really quite seamless (I did purchase from a normal new/used chevy dealer - I wouldn't do this with a used car lot). Doing this with a place like Granger, that is actively involved in selling to buyers across the country should be a very easy process.

Invoice -3% - $22,497 (Granger Ford)
Plus delivery - $1,495
Doc fees - ???

I think Long McArthur Ford in KS sells at MSRP and will cover shipping if you finance through them.

I was hoping for less than MSRP. I will use my credit union of 40+ years wherever I buy. There's a lot to be said for doing business face to face.

Renting a car, three nights in motels and fuel would cost at least $600. Driving over 1000 miles to Iowa is unlikely unless the saving were really substantial.

It would be helpful to have the numbers for X Plan...

You should call your local dealers to see if they'll even honor X-Plan pricing. No dealer near me would, because why would they accept X-Plan when they can sell trucks for over MSRP?

I can certainly see your point as I have read that some dealers will be asking $2K over MRSP on stock units. It seems like there is a ratio regarding the allocation of stock units, wherein the more customer orders a dealer gets, the more stock units they are allocated.

X-plan for that invoice price should be $23,375.23 (-0.4% + $275). Plus it caps doc fees at $100.

I've posted in another thread that I've got a dealer with retail order for an AWD XLT for 27,195 and a dealer markup of 2,500 for a final price of 28,695. I hope it's parked next to their 33K F-150 forever.

those who ordered maverick from ford are finding the price much higher once delivered to the dealership.

the dealership is not actually obligated - according to ford motor company - to meet the price set when the vehicle was ordered

dealerships tack on thousands of dollars

it is not in the dealerships interest to sell the car according to the original order
by refusing to honor the deal set by ford they can then put the car on the market and sell it for much more - anyone looking at car sales websites will see that the vehicles are priced much higher than the msrp - the msrp does not necessarily reflect the price promised upon ordering.

the ford maverick is not nearly as affordable as promised.

Ford financing has 0% for 36 mos, 0.9% for 48 mos.
Would the credit union be able to match that or beat it? OR are you going to the CU as a loyal customer? My credit union lowest was 1.9% for 36 mos, so I went with Ford. PLUS Ford will make any necessary adjustments should one transact a ESP (finance or remove it), where my CU would not.

Just sharing some experience.
