Stopped by my local dealership to have a look a Silver Maverick XLT Lux unaccounted for. MSRP of $28190 but dealer is asking 3k markup!

placed an order on 10/22 for a hybrid base lariat with a similar MSRP to this XLT but who knows when I’ll get it.

Any advice is appreciated. As of right now I have priority on this XLT if I choose to buy.

Looks good!! Depends how bad you want the hybrid.

Do what you want but I will NOT pay anything above what I agreed to when I ordered mine. Luckily, I bought mine on the Z plan so that will not be an issue. My dealer is not selling ANY of the Mavericks over invoice. That is why I will be a loyal customer to them.

I totally get it especially if it is an ordered Maverick. Since this is stock I was expecting some markup it’s really going to come down to how much I want it.

Perhaps I could do a bit of negotiating down from 3k but might be tough considering the demand for this truck atm.

I’m guessing that’s a FWD eco? Depends how much you need a car right now. October hybrid order realistically won’t be ready until March-April at the earliest. I have a hybrid on order but bought an ecoboost to avoid having to put a couple grand into my current car and sell it while the market is still hot.
My plan was to decide if I want to trade in my eco for the hybrid once it comes in. I paid under invoice so hoping wouldn’t take a loss on it, but at $3k over msrp that equation is quite a bit different.

Other thing to consider, if you do mostly highway miles the mpg and hybrid aren’t too different so the fuel savings shouldn’t be as big of a factor.

My opinion is bias because this is my truck (pending delivery) plus a few other options.

I would print out the VIN, and offer to purchase it at MSRP today. $1k over MSRP is okay, but not great. Anything above that is BS, imo.

You can also follow the link from FORD, view the Mavericks in transit, contact the dealer, and make a deal (at msrp) with a deposit.

I decided to walk out on this today. Dealer wouldn’t budge on MARKET ADJUSTMENT. If it’s still there in the morning I will see what I can do. I would feel a hell of a lot more comfortable with 1k markup as opposed to 3k.

thanks for all the advice y’all!

I'm not at all interested in an Ecoboost but even if it was a hybrid I wouldn't pay markup over $1000, maybe $1,500 at most.
