Navigating my Maverick Purchase: 2022 to 2024

Hello everyone,

I've had quite the journey joining the Maverick family. Initially, I placed an order for a 2022 Maverick. However, due to a change in sales staff and some miscommunication at the dealership, my order was lost. After a few months without updates, I was informed of the mix-up and had to reorder, this time for a 2023 model.

The saga continued as I was later asked to update my order to a 2024 Maverick, which I agreed to. This process has spanned over two years, turning into quite an ordeal.

In a twist of fate, another local dealership received a shipment of about six Mavericks. By the time I contacted them, only two unreserved Hybrid XLTs were available – exactly the specs I wanted. I quickly put down a deposit on one of them in late October. It already had a VIN and was just awaiting shipment. I'm thrilled to share that I took delivery of this Maverick yesterday and am absolutely loving it!

Interestingly, I also received an email update about my 2024 Maverick, which is scheduled for build in February. This leads me to a few questions for the community:

1. Are there any notable differences between the 2023 and 2024 Maverick models?
2. What should I expect next, considering I haven't yet put any money down on the 2024 order but have specified the build?
3. Does the signed 2024 order form count as a purchase agreement, legally binding me to purchase the 2024 Maverick as well?

First things come to mind:
-costs: '24 hybrid powertrain is $1500 dollar option, trim level is more costly
- '24 is somewhat deconcontented; no heated windshield, no standard (wired) keypad, non-powered sliding window availability
- '24 has remote start on key fob again
-'24 Lariat has all Lux features and SIBL standard along with powered sliding rear window, XLT LUX has DIBL standard
There may be more, those come to mind.

Edit to address other items. Not a lawyer but, no one here has had a problem with refusing an order that I know of. Most dealers are happy to get a Mav they mark up. Ford does not require a deposit, so that order should still be available to you if you want it.

Also wanted to add that the "400 Watt Inverter/Outlet in the Cabin Only" is no longer available on the 2024 model. If you want it you must order the Luxury Package.

As @Waterick mentioned the cost for the 2024 Hybrid is an additional $1,500 over the 2023.

That is why I am very glad that my 2023 Maverick XLT Hybrid got scheduled and built as a 2023 and not rolled over to the 2024.

On my 2023 I also got the "standard (wired) keypad" and the "400 Watt Inverter/Outlet in the Cabin Only".

If I had gotten rolled over to the 2024 I would not have had those items and checking the cost difference between the 2023 order and the 2024 order including the private offer I would have only saved $90 on the 2024 that was missing those two items.

Best $90 I spent (2023 vs 2024)

No brainer here. Let the 24 go and enjoy the 23. No sense in paying more money for less vehicle, especially one you do not have - only a build date. Like my old dad said when he was alive, "One bird in the hand is much better than two in the bush." Enjoy your Maverick.

The order form is not a contract. You don't have an obligation to buy based off the order form. This is how some shady dealers screwed customers out of their Maverick orders, or jacked up the price at the last minute. So just tell the dealer you don't want it, and get your money back if you gave them a deposit, They will be thrilled to have an available Maverick on the lot to sell

Your feedback made my decision easy, and I've decided to cancel my 2024 Maverick order and I'm looking forward to many great experiences with my 2023 model. Something to consider is the rollover credit from 2022 to 2024. I received $5200 off MSRP which made it better to purchase the 2024.
