Anyone who wants photos or videos just ask. I can monitor and film any sensor Ford has a published PID for.

For example: see this needle in the green? ZERO battery charging was going on. This was all engine brake holding me on a downhill.
Could you post the equipment used in your setup? I think it would b3 fun to have all that info, even if I wont know quite how to use it at first… Thanks!

Only if you are driving a Cyber Orange Hybrid Maverick!
Myth: SoCalPaddy has good taste.
Fact: He doesn't like Cyber Orange Mavericks, so he clearly has no taste! ;)

False: If you ordered in June, you should get your order before someone who ordered in July.

Ford throws a stack of papers in the air with names on it and then schedules based in reverse order of how they were caught.
Unless it is a Tuesday or if you live in South Dakota.

New Myth. Credit union rates are better than Ford rates. When Ford was 0% for 3 years, .9% for four years, and 1.9% for five years, I seriously doubt any Credit Union offered better rates.
I have not kept up with current rates. I would think it is still true.

Moral of the story. Get credit union loan rates but do not presume those rates are lower than that offered by the manufacturer.
Great one! Even now after the rate hike and Ford Credit's rates going up around two whole points across the board, it's still far better than any bank or credit union in my area.

Suggestion from an experienced hybrid driver: Put the truck in drive and let the computer worry about whether the battery is charging or being used to power the truck. It will save you from getting headaches and you can pay attention to your driving.
Agreed. Yes, when you are new to a technology it can be fun and interesting to observe and discover exactly how the system functions. But once that is done, I don't see any value in obsessing over it forever after. Now I just sit back and enjoy the ride. 😎

This whole thread is ridiculous.

Busting myths requires evidence, substantiation, valid methodology, sources, etc. Instead, all that’s being presented is a very limited understanding of how antiquated hybrid systems may have worked. Nothing about a modern system like Ford has installed in the Maverick.

There’s really nothing to see here. Moving along now.
Myth: This thread is about myth busting.

Fact: This thread is about making claims with nothing to back them up, with some trolling mixed in.

Sorry if this was covered already, but... How can anyone actually prove the eCVT is ever doing a series hybrid rather than parellel hybrid operation? In other words: how can you prove when the ICE is generating electricity to send to the traction motor directly, rather than just pushing the wheels itself through the ring gear?

This is not intended to be an insult or an argument against your question but I will answer your question with a question: Does it really matter? Does anyone really care unless they are doing some kind of technical analysis? If it operates as advertised, there should be no problem. If it doesn't, check it out.

"Does anyone really care" -- it seems the person asking does indeed care, and isn't that good enough reason to discuss? If you don't care to participate, you don't need to.

No I'm not sure that it matters, but @GPSMan tends to state a lot of stuff like it's a fact so I wanted to clarify if it's actually just an assumption or if he's getting a readout from the OBD2 sensor that shows it somehow. Since we're in a <checks notes> Myths Busted thread :geek:

Electricity can come from multiple sources. When you are driving at highway speeds MOST often the "hybrid" mode is: Gas engine sends some torque to the wheels and some torque to the generator that sends power to the traction motor. The battery is not involved for the most part. I didn't say never. I said "mostly" along for the ride.
This would be apparent if you had a battery percent gauge. I have one. You probably don't.
