Absolutely! Many things to learn and make it better each time we go! This is the Mavs 4th trip. Was a lot more 75+mph driving to this campsite so the gas was horrible but still 35mpg overall
Complaining about 35+ MPG is wild lol

How was I complaining?

Also, my best tank was over 1200kms from 52L, so, understandably when I'm used to 1000+ kms on a tank without effort, dropping to 750-850 would be noticeable

To note, my best trip ever was 3.9L/100kms / 60.31mpg across 180kms

I can acknowledge a reduction in efficiency without complaining, lol

If you are wanting a center pole without a grommet, you could use one of the fiberglass poles with frisbee, I would use two to make it ridged, attached to the top of the pole. The frisbees would keep from cutting or ripping the tarp.
Once a site survey is completed, & the tent is up, just use one of the empty beer cans you are now in possession of 😉

I switched over to using a hammock for camping. To me it is so much more comfortable than a tent.

I do several weekend trips a year with friends where we stay at a paintball field. One of the fields doesn’t have good trees for hanging a hammock so I bought a hitch extender and tie one end off to that and the other to a tree or pole.

I like using a 10x10 canopy for hanging around in and cooking under. We often will have 3 or 4 together depending on how many of us there are.

It's barely even been over 12 hours and I already wish I was back out in the forest.

My partner likes camping with her friends, I have always been more of a 1 or 2 people ordeal person, myself.

Since getting the Mav, we have been doing much more camping and trying to perfect our base camp and make it into our little car camping capable outfit.

This is one of our better setups, and I wanted to share it because I really would've liked to make it even better, but this weekend did not call for that being necessary.

Looking forward to getting to some more remote campsites next year, maybe with some Canadian crown land camping up on the shield as well. I wasn't able to have fun on trails while I was in the area as I had tore off my engine felt by nearly finding the limits of my trucks capability (but I made it through so clearly not)

Enjoy and feel free to share anything you think may make this a more enjoyable setup. Ideally we would not be spending much of any time at camp, but when we do, I'd like it to be comfy

As you can tell by my photo I use my tailgate to cook off of too.

Here are the poles, I got four in total.

This is the Tarp I use with it.

I have the Mr. Buddy Big Buddy heater. Also have a fan like for it that attaches to it and moves the heat around real good. Make sure to get a filter for any propane heater. I use a 10lbs tank but use it on low just to take the edge off in the cold nights while changing into sleep clothes. I can for cold nights on low go about 50 hours on that tank.

I have a -10f sleeping bag for the cold, which in reality is comfortable to around 15-20f degrees.

On the warmer days, plus for white noise, I have this little fan, and it is impressive for the size and cost.

I always like the idea of camping but the few times I've been with people with RVs they were at those lots where they're parked right next to each other so I would rather just rent a place in those scenarios this looks a little better like you're out in the woods by yourself. But what do you do just pick a spot I have to imagine there's designated areas or do you just randomly drive out into the woods lol?

You should have a National Forest in PA. Most National forest have dispersed camping and it is normally free.

Some States are the same with their state forest.

This site was Bon Echo Provincial Park, it is NOT very private at all, the pics make it look like it but the campsites were less than 15' apart in all directions unless there was a road in between, the whole point of these campsites is that you don't spend any time there and actually enjoy the park, which, we did, but the first 36 hrs of non stop rain and thunderstorms made us have to sit around and really take in how close we were.

I have been told by a coworker who is much more seasoned than me to check out some spots that he gave me and the sites look like theyre 500+m between them, and there are only a few drive-ins, the rest are mostly canoe in, so, I will be very happily just take the furthest down the logging road site and be very happy in my peace and quiet lol

Similar here in Canada, and I believe our Crown Land works similar to your BLM land in that if you can get to it and it is suitable you can camp there too. Most of our county forests allow recreational activities and ATV'ing, snowmobiling, etc. but not too many at that level offer camping, mostly just provincial or private parks for us, unless I go a few hours north, and I am already a few hours north of majority of the population
