I test drove a dealer’s salesman’s Maverick. Liked it and put a $500 deposit on a Maverick that was dealer ordered and would arrive in a few weeks. I was paying MSRP. I was given only a receipt for my deposit…..signed nothing else.

I got a call a few days after this and was told by the salesman they were charging a $2000 premium on the Maverick but would only charge me $1500 because I was not told at the time I put the deposit down. The salesman claimed he was blindsided by the Sales Manager. I told the salesman I did not want the truck. He then added that my deposit was non refundable. I put the deposit on my credit card so I was going to dispute it that way. I told him as much. Not my first rodeo.

The salesman called me the next day to tell me he had a talk with the Sales Manager and that they would waive the $1500 premium, and honor our original handshake agreement. He also told me the Maverick would be in the next day…….November 30th (last day of the month).

That day, in the mail, I got a postcard from Ford giving me $750 off any new vehicle purchased by 12/31/2021. I guess this was generated by all my activity on Ford’s website in the past weeks. Took the postcard with me to the dealership that night. Sometimes it all works out.
