That's a good sign! I had not sat in or driven a Maverick since October 2021 so I wasn't really sure what I was in for but the Tremor just crushed it for me.
Glad to see another "long waiter" had their unicorn delivered. Congrats, it is very sharp looking! Hope it ends up being everything you hope it would be.

Hey Cal,

So glad you finally got your Maverick.

I’m a Germain customer also. I ordered my MY22 Maverick on October 16, 2021. It’s finally scheduled for production the week of Sept 9th.

I have question about your statement…”every Germain Maverick order got hosed on COVP status for 22 to 23 change over”?

Can you go into more detail?

Thanks!

Ha, I guess I shouldn't paint with such a broad brush stroke as I am sure some Maverick orders were COVP by Germain but I was informed that when the private offer was made for MY22 to MY23 switch over that my order was not COVP and that most were not and that Germain was trying to fight with Ford to get the offers for their customers. I was a bit disappointed I was not because my Bronco was COVP (it had to be) and was ordered on the same day. I think it was a genuine case where Ford didn't provide guidance/require it for Maverick orders so Germain didn't take the extra step.

So everyone's mileage may vary. I did not have the private offer, only the mid year price protection and X-Plan. Those 2 combined should have put me at $34k and somehow it came out to $31,300 after incentives/discounts.

So I am MORE than happy with the price I got on my Tremor.

Did you receive the private offer for MY22 to MY 23 rollover?

Thanks for update.

No private offer yet. I was led to believe I would receive it when it is delivered.

I had an approved COVP on both the MY22 and MY23 orders. I have copies of each and the Ford chat line confirmed both on multiple conversations.

I’m hoping my truck gets delivered by mid October, then will see what Ford does to satisfy a customer that’s been buying Ford vehicles for 5 decades!

Congradulations! That price is incredible. The truck is beautiful. Kudos on the manual rear slider and the sunroof. I wouldn't be without either. LOL!

I really like the look of the Tremor... However, I live at elevaton, camp at even higher elevation, and am generally subject to extreme daytime temperatures and fast highway speeds... I just could not order the truck without all of the extra cooling and capability of the 4K package. I guess 4K/FX4 w/ a minor lift is close, but then you have to live with the bowling shoe interior (went Lariat due to MY2024 XLT loosing some key features) as you can't get FX4 w/ BAP. Everything is a comprimise no?

Question on that XL EB you test drove a while back. Did you run in Sport mode? Was it just FWD? If it was AWD, did it have 4K tow w/ the lower geared diff? Maybe you just got used to PLAID mode in your Tesla.. Just kidding, I know that's not available in the M3.

Will you unlock Sport Mode in your Tremor via Forscan?

Since I didn't get a private offer I didn't follow the details but I thought there were stipulations to meet to get it.

Regardless - Germain treated me so well that it did not matter if I qualified for the offer or not.

Thanks! I cannot believe the price of it. Germain really killed it (and we've had our rows about the Bronco!)

I'm totally happy with the mix of options and packages ordered. Love the sunroof and slider (I am a HUGE air flow guy - will be adding side window vents). The XLT Lux package offered a lot I was after (heated seats, leather wrapped and heated wheel, heated mirrors, heated wiper bay, hitch, led bed lights, 400w inverter).

Nah never ran it in sport mode BUT my friend has an EB XLT 4K that he says is properly squirrely in sport mode.

AND I 100% plan on adding sport mode via forscan, disabling the seatbelt warning, and enabling the speed sign recognition!

21.613 months actually. Or 1.8 years. Or 93.857 weeks. Or 657 days. 15,768 hours. Or 946,080 minutes. Or 56,764,800 seconds....

1 year, 9 months, and 18 days after I first placed a Maverick order it took a little less than a 3 mile test drive to my house, and my wife driving it around the block once to determine we loved it and we wanted it - but would it make sense financially?

TL;DR - 21.5 months. Fell back in love with the Maverick after a 4 mile test drive. JUSTIN ELLIS AND GERMAIN FORD (COLUMBUS, OH) ARE THE BEST FORD DEALER IN THE MIDWEST. I brought my Maverick Tremor home today.

Placed an order on October 13, 2021 for an XL Hybrid. We figured 2-3 months. 5 months on the high end. 8 days later Justin called me at said he had an EB XL AWD that I could have at MSRP if I wanted it.

That is the only time I had ever sat in or drove a Maverick. Foolishly I declined it as I wanted a Hybrid and was dead set on getting one. Foolish. STUPID me. My son is 4 here.

The Deal

Ordered through Justin Ellis at Germain Ford in Columbus, OH. Over the last 21.5 months I have text Justin hundreds of times regarding my Maverick and Bronco orders. Justin delivered a Base Sasquatch Bronco to me at MSRP early in 2022.

I've also never put a deposit down on any order, and he is as knowledgeable of a salesman not named Tim Bartz.

Sticker on my Maverick was 35,280 but I had $480 in price protection plus X-Plan (every Germain Maverick ordered got hosed on COVP status for 22 to 23 change over).

I was trading in a 2022 Tesla Model 3 Long Range with 14k miles and a rock chipped windshield. Not sure if you've paid attention lately - but the value of the Model 3 has taken one of the biggest shits in automotive history.

Before going in and seeing it - I told myself I would not spend more than $2,000 total to make the switch.

With my discounts the Maverick initially came to $34k and they told me they would give me $34k for the Model 3. Then they did some black magic trickery and hooked up another $2,700 in discount/incentives on the Maverick and cut me a check for $2,710.

They did this knowing that I would have likely purchased the Maverick if I could have walked out without writing a check

Effectively my Maverick cost $31,300 - which is simply insane.

The TREMOR

My son is my best friend. He's 6 now in the photo today. He loves cars and he accompanies me to the dealer every time we go to "Ford". They know him there.

He loved the Model 3 and I wouldn't have made the deal without his approval - but like me he fell back in love all the same and parting ways was easy enough.

IMG_4678.jpg

THE GOOD

  • Ride Quality. Really enjoyed the XL Maverick we drove in 2021. The Tremor takes it to an entirely different level. Where the Model 3 was so unforgivingly stiff and punishing (but you got go kart handling) the Tremor soaks up pot holes and road imperfections with minimal suspension or tire thumping. I did bring PSI down to 33 all around.
    • A sub point to ride quality is the seat comfort quality but it comes with a major caveat below
    • Falkens are meaty and aggressive without being too loud. I think they are likely a big contributor to the ride quality
  • Initial quality (fit and finish). Had some really big issues with my Bronco so I spent a lot of time looking my Maverick over. It's well built from what I can tell. I found zero rust (I know it's coming) Furthermore - interior quality surprised me (again) where I think it might be better than the Bronco and really is just a step below the Tesla as far as touch materials and light years ahead of it with the creaks and rattles.
  • Under seat storage. So much stuff was able to fit down in there. Trauma + first aid kid, multiple bow saws, hammock, straps, tarp, ground tarps, emergency blankets, hatchet, hiking poles, helinox ground chair, folding table, and the list goes on.
  • Headlights are surprisingly bright. I was afraid that I would not be happy because the M3s were excellent. These will do just fine
  • Never thought I would use the InteliKey Pad and thought it was crazy how big of a deal people made about it.
    • Went from the dealer to my disc golf league and the disgusting physical key I will forever despise never left the Mav and the keypad is great!
IMG_4680.jpg

THE MEH
  • The Physical Key & Fob. Will bug me forever and ever and ever
  • I thought that XLT Lux package came with dual zone climate, but it is just a single zone auto climate which is fine for a truck I guess but it's definitely not dual zone. Also when in "auto" mode I shouldn't have to tell it to turn on the A/C to achieve a desired temp.
  • When I drove the XL EB I was surprised at how peppy it felt. The 2.0EB/8spd drivetrain combo is smooth but I don't find it powerful. That being said, I haven't leaned into the throttle more than 50% yet however it doesn't have that visceral pull or feel of the 2.3EB/10spd that my bronco had - even if the Maverick is quicker.
    • Hard to hear the turbo spool at all
    • Power is linear and 35 comes pretty quick and again - smoothly - but it doesn't feel powerful to me
    • A 2.3 in this thing would have made it SO much fun
  • Hard to argue with "free" upgraded all weather mats but they leave a bit to be desired. I don't want to splash down for better ones because these are, adequate - but I likely will
  • Engine block heater - is legit just zip tied to a tube of the radiator and you have to open the hood to use it
    • When added to the new Chevy Colorado they put the plug into the grill with a weather seal and a connector you use on your extension cord. This is the way.
THE UNACCEPTABLE
  • I have the power seat and @Shay has pointed out numerous times that front seat height adjustment is hinged however he was always reviewing an XL or the XLT without the lux package. I would have never thought the power seat would be hinged but it is, and that to me is unaccpetable
    • I LOVE the way I fit in almost all Fords. I find them comfortable and the Maverick is no different but I would love to be able to adjust the front of the bottom cushion downward without having to pitch forward and raise the seat up. I could see it being an issue on longer road trips where the front of the bottom seat cushion is pushing on your hammys.

SUMMARY

We'll see how the next few weeks go getting it broken in but I am so happy. Was it worth 21.5 months? Hell no, nothing is. However if I held those 21.5 months against the Tremor I would have never bought it. All is good. Water under the bridge.

@Ford Motor Company - I thank you in advance for the incoming congrats. I stayed pumped!
A very informative assessment! I'm only 5'8" so I may have to augment my front seat cushions to add some depth cushioning. The test drive sold me on the Maverick over the Ranger though. Smoother ride for an older guy like me. Lol

I've summed up a few things just the same. The 2.0L in the Maverick doesn't quiet feel the same as I expected after driving our previous Escape w/1.5L. The sensation of torque just isn't there, but the things is darn quick just the same. It would have been really impressive to also have had that torque be felt, not just experienced via the speedometer.
Not a fan of the seat adjustment either. It's fine that I usually tilt my seat in the fashion it adjusts, but I'd like the front of the seat bottom to lower independently, not just be a pivot point. I'd also have like the steering wheel to telescope a bit more than it does. I'm tall and with the seat adjustment set to where I'm comfortable, it's a touch too far out for my liking; but something that would ever be a dealbreaker for me.

I'd personally would have like a touch softer ride quality. Yes, I understand that it's supposed to be a truck, it just doesn't have to always ride like one. After all, I ride on NY roads, some of them suck pretty bad, it would just be nice to take the edge off of some of the hits.
I've also not been able to find if there is a means to set when the seat heater/heated steering wheel to operate when remotely started. Since I bought it, we've not had actual cold temperatures and I've come out to find the seat/steering wheel heater on. There's little reason for he to have them on when it's only dropped to 58 degrees overnight. It would just be nice to set it to come on at, say, 40 degrees.

Otherwise, I'm quite happy; especially with the ability to accelerate in traffic. It can be a little rocket at times.

Your Maverick "journey" has really only just begun now that you have the truck . The ordeal of getting it is over and ended happily. I thought from the title that maybe you sold the Maverick for a great profit. Glad all worked out with a great deal and you love the truck.

There will be no selling of the Maverick! I love it very much.

We do love it.
