Correct. And IIRC, it's the only state left that still has that law, now that Oregon recently began allowing self-service.
Yeah we Oregonions think we are so progressive and yet it to decades to allow us to pump our own.

There were three ways to pump your own prior to the recent law change.

If you were pumping diesel, into a boat or into a motorcycle.

This should have been a standard feature on the 24 Lariat. I use it all the time on my 23 if my keys are in the house and I need to open the truck up. All my Fords had this (except Mustang) and it is a nice feature. Ford is cutting too many features (like fogs too) and they are going to lose some of their customer base because of it. I don't see foreign makers doing this....just the opposite instead.

To me. I use the keypad a few times a day. It’s very important that it’s right at the drivers door.

Like many, I was frustrated to learn that Ford had done away with the driver's side door keypad coming standard on the Maverick for the '24 model year. I had a MY24 on order, and since I go for runs and hikes quite often, the keypad was pretty important to me. When I took delivery of my Maverick, I ordered the keypad as a dealer-installed option, however after looking online, I saw that dealerships were typically putting the now-horizontal keypad directly over the driver's door handle, on the paint of the vehicle. I thought that didn't look great, so I asked my dealer to program the keypad but leave it unstuck so I can choose its location. I settled on adhering it to the bedcap over the fuel door to blend it in with the black, like how the vertical one on the 22's and 23's do. Let me know what y'all think! I think this is a much better look for the MY24 for those who want the keypad. Photos below:

that question has been on my mind as well. i am a BIG fan of the keyless entry keypad and have never understood why more OEM's dont offer this feature. but since Ford has seen fit to orient it horizontally i would probably go with somewhere on the driver side door but your choice seems cool :)

Ford accessories has the keypad for $120. Part# is KB3Z14A626B if you have remote start on key fob. Not sure about dealer installation.

Yes, that's the one this whole thread is about. It's thick, ugly, sticks on by 2 sided tape, works off an internal battery that can't be replaced so you have to buy a new one later on, have pay to have it programmed by the dealer and it's black, not available in body color. The factory one, prior to MY24, was built in and was wired, not battery powered. Most can't understand ford removing it other than to save a couple dollars.

I had to chime in on this. NJ here and I love not having to pump my own gas. The biggest reason is I like to pay cash. And paying cash at self serves in other states has always been a pain. Also it's nice not having to get out of your car in the winter. The arguments that self serve saves money just aren't true. NJ is cheaper than the neighboring states.

I'd rather get 2% cash back with my credit card, to somewhat offset the padded price the gas station charges, to pay for the expense of credit/debit card payment fees. Just hold the card near the contactless reader and start pumping within seconds. Your card number is not transmitted - only a token code. It's much faster than having to tell someone what grade of gas I want and then hand them cash and wait for change. And the main reason I would not like full-service is, I don't want anyone touching stuff on my truck except when absolutely necessary.

I don't know what you're paying for gas there, but I filled up yesterday for $2.69/gallon (Same price, cash or credit).

I've been a Ford person since my '94. Ford been slowly removing options and charging more.
The keypad is an option I really like and one of the reasons I didn't look get a '24. They are removing the keypad from other models as well. When and if the time comes for another vehicle I will probably go with another manufacture.

I do like some of the locations that people have placed them.

2.69 is great. Around 3 bucks here. But still cheaper than surrounding states. A few years ago Gov Christie raised the gas tax. Guaranteeing a certain amount. The thing is when demand goes down the tax goes up. Right now evs pay no road tax. So in effect people who use gasoline subsidizes them. NJ hasn't met a tax they do not like so I expect that to change.
