Camry mpg is about 51 city & 53 hwy . higher both city and highway. Specs are very similar, L, W, H, weight, 2.5 ICE, battery kWh
Any reason why????

Aerodynamics. Not sure about them being dimensionally similar in terms of "height", either. The Maverick sits a full foot taller than the Camry. That is huge, aerodynamically speaking.

The Camry also gets +5 mpg over the Honda Accord. The trunk space sucks on both!!

Gearing is also another thing to consider. The Maverick final drive could be different to support 2k towing (vs 800 lb)

The Camry has a 1.6 kWh HVB and the Maverick has a 1.1 kWh HVB. That is a ~50% increase in useable capacity can significantly impact city fuel mileage (probably by at least 10%). The bigger battery allows you to have more electric only miles, gives a bigger reservoir to store braking energy, and allows you to dump more charge into the battery and pull it out faster which helps a ton in city mpg. The Camry motor also has direct injection (via their D4S system which uses port/direct injection hybrid for different engine speeds) which likely allows them to eek out some more gains in fuel efficiency. There are also differences in the gearing between the engine/electric motors and the drive wheels between the Maverick and Camry for expected usage which likely also impacts city/highway MPG.

Great info.
The specs I saw had the battery as 1.0 but maybe I read it wrong..
