Early on, the machines simply issued citations. And then a couple of city councils actually discussed shortening yellow lights, and projected the additional income . . .
The one I'm waiting for is here in Las Vegas. The city has someone who spends part time handling so-called appeals of its parking tickets. No appeal from this person, and no way to get judicial review at all--which violates basic constitutional protections on administrative law.
I've toyed with doing it, but I don't see how it could ever pay off, given my retired status. For that matter, I didn't see a payoff while still practicing--I'd be a short term courthouse hero, and then it would be gone, after doing tens of thousands of dollars of legal work!
