At some point in 2024 year I am going in for some surgery. Should be in the hospital for three days. Wife will be using the Mav. Her car a Kia Soul is on loan to my son. The deal is she is blind in her right eye. Any ideas on a wide-angle mirror that would help her. The hospital doing the surgery is about13-15 miles away through real traffic. Thanks for any suggestions on like a wide angle rear view mirror preferably one that you have used with success Thanks. .

I haven't used the curved magnifying kind but I used a big flat ones for the rear view on my old car. They are really good and can help a lot. They aren't expensive, I'd just get the biggest one you can find and have her try it out. Curved mirrors aways throw me off.

My wife drives a soul and has no problem at all transitioning to the mav when she drives it, but she is not vision impaired. The driving posture is remarkably similar.

For three days? Adjust the one you have to point a little more to the left! and then adjust the left hand exterior mirror. Non problemo, amigo!

Get rid of any blind spots with one of these. Allows you to see 180 behind you without looking through headrests. $135 right now.

It's funny that you and the OP mentioned Kia Souls. When I first came across the Maverick on YouTube back in 2021 making considerations for my next vehicle, when I initially saw pictures of the Maverick minus the bed, the angles on the front made me think I was looking at the Kia Soul. Ooops.

I actually really like the soul. It's an extremely practical and economical vehicle with decent interior space. The cabin does not feel cramped nor do you feel like you are sitting on the floor. With the rear seat folded down you can fit quite a lot of stuff in the back owing to the square-ish cabin design. But it has a compact footprint and is great in the city.

Not a ton of power but perfectly adequate as a commuter. I wouldn't call it underpowered. It does struggle a little with adults in all the seats vs driving alone, but any smaller economy oriented vehicle is going to do the same. Decent MPG.

We haven't had any problems 70k in. My wife said that if they made an AWD model she would never need to think about buying a different vehicle. Turbo hybrid AWD would be insanely great because it would check literally all the boxes.

Removing the rear seat headrests helps a little. Store them under the back seat and replace them when there's a rear seat passenger.

Also, aim the exterior mirrors outward, so that you cannot see the sides of the truck unless you bend way to the left or right in the driver's seat. This helps get rid of blind spots.

Convex mirrors added to the outside mirrors may help, as well.

I was actually considering the Soul before buying the Maverick. Was sick of Honda and wanted to try something new. My initial impression of the Maverick (especially seeing the orange points in the XLT model) made me think it was cheap and kinda ugly. Needless to say, got over that in a big hurry. If I go back to driving a car in the future, the Soul is still on my radar. However (and I hate to admit my husband is right) I've been bitten by the "truck bug" in buying the Maverick, and right now any future vehicle purchase will probably be another truck.

My first vehicle was a 1980 toyota pickup. Every vehicle since then has been a sedan until the mav. The first time I used my mav for truck stuff I knew I'd never go back to sedans again. It's way too handy to be able to move a big couch or a load of mulch.
I would not go back to the 1980 toyota manual RWD as a daily driver. Maybe as a hobby vehicle, but those things would slide all over the road. You are fortunate that your first truck is the mav. It handles so much better than that thing there's no comparison.

I'm truly thankful for the Maverick because even with the EB engine, I'm getting 27-28mpg around town. It's a great commuter! I likewise don't miss driving a stick shift. All of my vehicles have been manual transmissions until now. A few months ago I got into my Maverick and was in a distracted/harassed mood and went through the motions of trying to push in the clutch and shift. Had to laugh at myself and it lightened up my mood. Old habits die hard.
