Hi

I'm looking for the most minimal fender flares available, Air Design are the smallest I've seen to date.
Is there anything more minimal out there that you guys are aware of?

If not, do you guys think some sort of custom matte black sticker over the area would work? or be stupid and wear off?

Thanks

The air designs stick out too far for me as well, way too far past the tire shoulder.

I’ve thought about putting some chrome blackout tape along the edges. It might work OK with some high quality tape. Not sure where to get really good stuff now though.

The tape I have, which isn’t made anymore, held up well on the grill of my last Subaru. It only had a few very small nicks in it after about 4-5 years. That’s a high exposure area compared to fender edges.

If I had some cheap tape I’d plaster some on the edges to see what it looks like.

I have the Air Design minimalist flares and I like them. I had the dealer install them. Because the truck is small, maybe they could be a tad less tall but they look good with the 18" wheels.
I like those and the fact they can be used with mud flaps. agree they could be shorter.

but egad the price

Another option would be to install some black or?? vinyl wrap along the fender indents. That way you would not have any sticking out, only the appearance of a fender flair and the protection on the factory paint. Any good vinyl shop should be able to accommodate your needs.

Hyper-Dip spray would also be another great option for this area.

On the bottom right of the screen, I see a cage. Are you trapping squirrels? I could use one of those!:D
The racoon from hell is what I trying to catch.

Over a two week period, he battered the poison out of 6 bait stations and ate all of the bait. Each station contains about 12 blocks of poison and there was no vomit to be found. After a 5lb box of poison blocks and 3 new bait stations, I put down some Golden Marlin before going to bed then putting it away after getting up in the morning. Ironical it is blue in color. I have used it before to quell an invasion of about 5 racoons. They got about 20 feet from the bait station and died.

Not the racoon from hell. . . I have him on video eating the Golden Marlin (after emptying another bait station of poison bars) and sauntering away. Probably down the road to look for dessert at my one of my neighbors.

I usually relocate critters I catch to the large county park, but not this guy. If I do catch him, he will not be released because there is something wrong with this thing.

That is very interesting. Definitely seems abnormal . Good luck!

I would like relocate a few squirrels myself. They can be a real pain in the ass too. My camera has recently picked up 2 gray foxes hanging around the yard after midnight. They came back a few nights ago and caught one eating vole in my yard which I don't mind since I can't get rid of them either. Nature!

I was hoping the Mabett units would utilize a two-piece design for the front wheel well, allowing the bumper to be pulled if necessary, without removing the front fender flares, as you never know.

The only two-piece is the EGR, which I like, however, not sure how they'd look with stock tires. Having a Hybrid, I'm most likely not putting on significantly large/wider tires or spacers to push them outwards.

Just so you know, the addition of any fender flare will negatively effect your mpg.
The wheel openings are already one of the worst places for drag and turbulence.

See these spats the Ford aerodynamic engineers put on?
The make a noticeable difference in drag reduction around the suspension and wheel areas.

If these make a positive aerodynamic difference resulting in increased mpg what do you think fender flares will do, negatively?

Ford did a lot of tweaks on the Mav, Every manufacturer does.

This trailing edge area of the roof line makes one of the most significant reductions in drag and turbulence, yet most people wouldn’t even notice it, let alone understand why Ford made it that way.(It curves down, look at your truck)

Of course, I you don’t care about mpg, do what ever you want, heck, a faux hood scoop adds visual interest!

Looks like you have a hybrid. You bought that instead of an EB for the specific reason of better fuel efficiency.

Be careful what you do.
