Just back from a 900 mile trip.23 EcoBoost 4k tow. I noticed at 75 mph i was averaging 23 mpg. When I got off the freeway and drove at 55 mph my mileage climbed back up to 34 mpg. Anyone else notice this big difference?

Just did 3800 miles out west with a 23 Ecoboost and 4K. Found the same thing. Maverick liked everything 70 mph or under, but mpg fell a lot over 70mph.

Yes, I noticed the same thing.
My '23 FX4 4K on a 900 mile trip - peak mpg was around 68mph (cruise control, no AC, flat highway, Eco mode).

Edit: I managed 32 mpg on the drive out trying to find optimum and 36 mpg on drive back.

I just completed a trip from Chicago to NW Montana and back, see attached trip odometer. 60% of the trip was 85mph with outside temps over 100⁰. 10% of the trip was mountains, the remainder was 75mph in 80⁰ outside temps. I have a 23 XLT Tremor. Aside from this trip, at 35 to 70mph on country roads I can get 32mph. Mixed city/hwy I get 26.5mph

Its a truck. Trucks have the aerodynamics of a brick. In the case of the stock Mav it has a Cd of 0.56 if you want to calculate the aerodynamic losses. The losses go up as the square of the speed. You may not have noticed the drag issue on a less efficient older-design truck with poor engine performance and huge wheels giving much larger losses than the aerodynamic effects.

All the time. Being a leadfoot will make you (me too) pay at the pump.

On my last trip up north a couple of weeks ago I told myself I'd only do 60-65 but after awhile I had to watch myself to keep it under 80.

I encourage everyone to check the mileage at the pump. That computer readout is not always accurate. AFE bias can be adjusted and there is information on this site as to how to adjust it. Many have said the computer readout can be off as much as 2 to 3 miles per gallon. Still the gas mileage is great for a gas turbo engine.
