ordered end of august 2021,pushed back numerous times.when first ordered offers for my 2019 dodge grand caravan were 3 and 4,000 over what i owed.now i am being told my vehicle is 2000 behind in equity.this weeks eta for xlt maverick is 11/2 to 11/8.i know dealer is going to try and pull some bullshit over price and financing.also i have been diagnosed with prostate cancer.these factors are leading me to think it might be smarter to try and sell for a profit.am i wrong?

You do what you need to do, but don't accept any dealer attempt to screw you out of price/finance protection. God bless you: prostate cancer is very beatable if caught early!

Doing what‘s best for you is not wrong.

If you decide to sell, look at comps from Carmax and Carvana. New listings (“coming soon”) are about $5K more than they paid for the vehicle. Ones that have been in inventory for some time are marked up at least $3K from the purchase price.

Edited to add: Can’t sell a car in Maryland without a title. You’ll have title, tag and 6% sales tax to add to the purchase price of the Maverick. My experience that dealers take their time doing the title and tag paperwork. Usually takes about 30 days to receive the paper title. Many MD dealers can issue metal plates at time of purchase but title issued only by MVA.

Is there sales tax in Maryland? Is there excise tax in Maryland?

Determine your total cost to purchase your Maverick, you have to own it to sell it. Would your dealer offer you cash to walk away from the truck after it arrives? This may be your best financial opportunity.

Depending on your incoming Mavericks trim, engine, options the amount of money to be made is variable.

I had a good experience selling a car to CarMax- they paid exactly what I was quoted and the paperwork was handled smoothly. But you would have to close the deal with your dealer and then sell so there will be some hassle for you.

Bear in mind that unless you specifically entered into a binding agreement, you should be able to walk away without buying the Maverick, should you so choose. At most, you'd lose a deposit, if you had one, depending on if it's refundable and under what conditions. You'd just stick with the van if that was what you wanted to do.

As per the van, be sure to get notes not just from the dealer but Carvana, CarMax, Vroom, and other dealers in your area.

You can beat prostate for sure. I beat that one 10 years ago, on my 4th big C battle now at 74. Colon 6 years ago, Thyroid about 4 and now small c in my lung which they are still figuring best treatment. Figured I was good after the 3 peat but guess I'm going for the home run now.. Keep positive and active, I learned that is the best way to handle it. Trust what your body is telling you and look after it!
