Hmmm can you bring your "cousin" in and "help" buy it for them as a gift?

It probably depends on the dealer but if you spin a good enough yarn you might get by. Hahaha
No I don't think so. It isn't really in the dealership's hands. It is all based on the address. The order could be transferred to someone else in the household easy enough and have rebates and protection apply, but that's about it.

What did you buy ? Are you sure you don't want the Mav ? You may end up positive on trade in depending on what you bought. Or even selling current vehicle to carvana/vroom/driveway and then buying the Mav

Go get quotes from the sites I mentioned, and ask your dealer what they will offer on trade. Might surprise you. If you didn't pay ADM on that, you could very possibly have positive equity in it as soon as you bought it even with no money down. Wild times we are in.

Which do you want more? Assuming the Mav gets better gas mileage?

So if you want the Mav, I would go to the Chev dealership you got the truck, look to see how many trucks they have on the lot, did they tell you any hints (you can use) on their supply abilities? Also look at other Chev dealers around for comparison. If you paid straight MSRP explain your situation and ask if they would buy the truck back for what you paid inc tax, title etc. They are going to be able to mark up the truck that way and come out ahead w a new happy customer. Then pay off your financing and start over w the Mav. I would also explain to the Ford finance dept what happened and that you sold a brand new Chev (you had to buy b/c Ford 'supply chain') to get your patient self into an ordered Ford and ask them to make that happen in finance for you!

yeah I may have trouble financing it at this point. I could probably get the cash though from family but that’s risky
OP, if you move forward, you obviously will need to pay for the truck, tags, registration, taxes, etc.. If financing you'll need to deal with that. It's likely that you won't have any title for ~4-6 weeks (even with the lien) in order to sell the truck.

Then, if you do sell for more than your purchase price (excluding all tax and tags) you will be obligated to claim that profit on your 2022 Federal/state taxes and you will pay a short term capital gain tax on the 'profit'. Again, that's based on the price you purchased for not including tax and tags.

Uncle Sam would like his share... ;)

good luck...

Well I should explain that patients wasn’t the biggest factor here. My car is dead. Bad cylinder. I had access to back up vehicles but that recently went away. Me without a vehicle for anymore than a day or two starts to add up very fast. Time is money. I have more available work then time. As an electrician that does a tremendous amount of side work, the maverick would have met my needs but not as well as the full size. I have basically the majority of the tools you find in any service van and a fair amount of material on hand at most times. I wanted to roll with the maverick for about 1.5 years and then be ready for my lightning preorder. After 1.5 weeks in the 1500 there is no going back. The space I have is invaluable, I can breathe, just twice the payment. Check this out
