You don't happen to keep the defrost on full time do you? I always have and I was glad to find out that disabled the auto s/s in my Mav.

No not really. Just the heated seat and steering wheel when I activate the remote start.

Maybe that's what's going on. I read the reason for the s/s to disable with defrost is concern over draining the battery. I'd assume heated seats and steering wheel probably draw quite a bit of power. Just a guess though. I'm curious as to what the dealership finds.

LIke many vehicles, when in defrost mode the A/C compressor is activated to dehumidify & clear the windshield faster. My Taurus does this, so in winter I pull the A/C relay. I used to pull my snowmobile trailer up north each year when it was very cold & had to keep it in partial defrost mode the whole trip, keeping the compressor from operating gave me 3-4 more mpg.
