The Ranger is less than a foot longer than a Maverick and less than an inch wider. If it had the same bed length it would be even closer in length. The Maverick isn’t a “small” truck either. There are zero places I could park my Maverick that I couldn’t park my Ranger.
When I parked my 2012 Chevy Colorado next to a Maverick, I could barely see any difference in size. The bed is smaller, but the back seat might have a bit more room. I do wish Maverick would come out with a one and a half door version like I have with the Chevy.

there is no credible evidence of any Montana coming out- certainly not next year. Just some wishful thinking and "articles" trying to generate clicks.
The Montana that current exists is designed for 3rd world countries. I wouldn't expect it would do well in the US. There is nothing stopping GM from designing a compact unibody pickup other than corporate inertia. Look how long it took them to come out with the new Chevy Blazer crossover to compete with the Nissan Murano, Ford Edge, etc. Like 15 years.

yes, most of us already knew about the existence of that 3rd world Montana. Every couple months someone comes on here and says "Look! finally a competitor for Maverick!" and uses internet pictures and maybe an opinion piece showing that South Americas vehicle as proof THAT is coming to the US. I was responding to that guy that says that is happening and as soon as next year  I've made the case more than once here that version would never pass US safety or emissions regulations. Would basically take a complete re-design for this market. Same with RAM 700 3rd world platforms.

IMO, it's highly unlikely GM would invest in that anytime soon- if ever as they are tying their future to EV fast tracking. Besides, they already have the Colorado/Canyon mid-size twins + Silverado/Sierra full size in their lines. More likely candidates would be Honda and Toyota with both in "wait and see" modes right now for this year and next pending market acceptance/sales of Maverick and Santa Cruz after the supply lines and shortages and inflation ($6.00 gal gas?!) and war sorts itself out. I could see Honda building something higher end (but not as polarizing design-wise) to go against SC and Toyota looking for an opening between their Tacoma and mid-range Maverick. Maybe throw VW in the mix too with global penetration and deep pockets and some previous discussions with Ford designers on new Ranger platform? Of course I could be wrong, but I don't see the external conditions being right to invest in and launch anything like that in the short term.

I drove ranger in the fields as security guard when i was younger so it will hold place in my hear but the maverick has 2x the luxury of 2000s ranger. Couldn't say on new ones but they are not competitors

There is one very important place I can park my Maverick that I couldn't fit a Ranger... my garage!

Unfortunately my place was built in like 1982 before using huge pickups as a daily driver was 'a thing'.

Now I need to decide which one stays when my Bronco finally shows up. It’ll probably be the Maverick because it’s newer, has a better interior, gets better gas mileage, and my wife loves it. Well, except she says weird car dudes keeping talking to her about it wherever she goes.

I'm kind of the opposite of you. I have a Bronco and I'm waiting for my Maverick FE hybrid. Supposed to be built next week. When I average the MPG between the two it will actually be respectable :)

No we don’t. The Ranger is a great truck but the Maverick is pretty much the perfect vehicle for my wife. I drove it home from the dealer almost two months ago, and I haven’t driven it since.
If the wife drives the truck, can the husband golf from the ladies' tee?

My garage was built in the 70s and both my Ranger and Maverick fit. I think the largest vehicle I would be able to get in there is a Flex/MkT or an Expedition. But the Expedition would be too wide to park a second car in there.

My 2-door Sasquatch manual will probably get negative fuel economy.

I've got a 2dr non-SAS 2.3l auto which is about the most fuel efficient Bronco build and I get about 20MPG.
