Hybrid yes full EV NEVER. So if Toyota comes out with a hybrid like the Mav and I don't get my 2023 order then yes depends on price. I never ever want a EV .For those of us who placed orders for MY2023 that don't think we will be built and get rolled over into MY24,
Would you consider a Ranger Lightening instead? Not much is known about it yet, might come out as '24 or a '25 model year. If it comes out as a '24 model year, it might be tempting to go with that instead of the Maverick (assuming I get rolled over, and I expect to be) It's all speculation at the moment. Only Ford know when they're actually going to release it and have a real estimate on price.
One article I read estimates a base price of $35k. (Personally I doubt it will be that low, but if it is at that price it's comparable in price to a loaded Lariat).
$35k is more than I want to spend on a vehicle, but having a frunk AND a truck bed would be fantastic, and the extra price probably worth it never buying gas again.
Toyota might be close to an electric truck too, they're better at keeping secrets than Ford, but, Toyota's offering looks larger and closer to a Tundra in size than the humble Maverick so probably won't steal any customers away from here.
Most EV's have a 8 year battery warranty. So at 8 years old the EV will be almost worthless. Who would take that chance. Do you feel lucky punk?It is going to be very interesting what the used EV, 10 years and older, is going to be like.
Replacement battery cost?
Replacement battery availability?
I was happy with my 20 Ranger but got a woody for the Maverick and now owned mine for about a year so the honeymoon is over. Still love the Maverick but looking back my Ranger averaged @22 MPG and the Maverick @26.5 so if you do the math and drove 12000 miles per year thats saving about 93 gal which at todays fuel prices in SC is about 300 dollars so looking at the fuel aspect I don't think thats a big game changer. I know there are lots of other variables and my Mav is not a hybrid but the Ranger is a nice mid size truck albeit at a higher price. Looking for a good one coming off lease might be worth investigating.....and that is precisely why I am starting to think that maybe I should start shopping around for a nice off 3 year lease Ranger Lariat.
