I think you're probably right. People can spend an hour in the evening watching the latest episode of some show, but not willing to do something constructive with that same hour. I think there is just a general disconnect with the outdoors these days as well. Kids used to go play outside and lived learning new ways to do stuff. Now, if it's not on a screen it's pulling teeth to get them outside. The wife's nephew was headed that way. A couple years ago I took him on the trap line to get him out of the house. Thankfully he took to it like a fly on stink. Been mentoring him and a couple of his friends these last two years on trapping, tracking, woodsmanship, etc. It's great seeing that enthusiasm kick in. It actually spurred me on to volunteering to become a certified trappers education teacher for the state Fish and Game. You can't sit back and complain about kids not getting outside these days if you're not willing to help them get outdoors.Makes sense. I should have been more clear. That whole "one hour a week" thing means scouts takes up a lot of my time and so I assume people are on the same wavelength.
