I wanted a manual slider on my XLT when I ordered it, i felt the price was reasonable, but it kept requiring the CP360 package that I did not want when I tried to virtually build it. So I ordered the truck with a solid back window.
That being said I am a car guy, and a thinker. I restore the olde Junque as a hobby. I have also done glue in windshields and the old timey ones with rubber gaskets. The back window on these is just glued in with black urethane in a caulking tube like everything else made these days. What I am going to do is wait a few years until theres a million of these dammed things running around, and the aftermarket for glass is up and running, then I will call my buddy at the local glass place, and ask him the cost on a rear slider for a maverick. I'm guessing it will be about $300.
Since they have arguably better tools for removal without damaging paint, plus I lack time to mess with this stuff lately, I will probably have his guys put it in. My 94 silverado needed a front windshield recently. The glass only cost me $115. Why? Because it was the same windshield from 1988-1999 on all chevy and GMC pickups and suburbans.
Heck a tinted rear cab glass for it was only $100. Once theres enough of em out there, the aftermarket gears up with replacement parts. You can always have your salvage yard do a search since being these trucks have been out for a year, some of them are ending up in the boneyards as totals. A used rear glass off a 1 year old truck ain't really used.
