Just added some new hiking boots to my XL Hybrid. Wheels are 17x8 LP5 from LPAventure and Firestone sent me a set of 245/65/17 Destination A/T2s to try out on them. I will be adding a 1" leveling kit from Zone Offroad here in the coming week. The point is NOT to make it a Raptor or a Tremor but to increase its grip and ground clearance off the pavement as much as reasonably possible for a Hybrid - to see what can be achieved to make it better for camping and exploring.

I will be doing a complete video on the whole makeover that includes a number of other mods that have been done this spring with some observations on handling on and off the pavement as well as mpg changes.

Love the wheels....not my choice for tires but with that said how does the total weight compare per tire to the stock wheels and tires? Rolling resistance on those tires would be good to know as well.

Looks really good like the stance alot 👍. Please let us know what this does to your gas mileage . Love that size of tire but wonder how much of a lose of gas mileage it will cost you 🤔 I Have 235/65/17s on my Hybrid off of a Lariat Eco FX4 from a member in Huntsville Alabama and have not noticed any power or mileage lose . Would like to go a size up if no major lose of power or mileage Thank You 🙂

Great to see that you're willing to reinvent your truck. I'm looking forward to the new version and the experience you have with the changes.

After numerous reviews on all-terrain tires, and the previous experience I have with Firestone Destination tires, I will probably be opting for a set on my Maverick too.
From experience I can say I expect a decent ride, a little softer than many tires, I wouldn't expect a huge drop in fuel mileage -- though you are increasing the size/weight of the tires, but these tend to run much lighter than the alternatives that are out there. They should also be awesome in rain/standing water. They're also good in snow and on ice, too.
I didn't notice any real change in mileage on my Ram, I changed from a highway tire which was quite a bit heavier. These were much better in the rain and snow, the ride was better, though they weren't as crisp on handling -- but it wasn't why I bought them, nor were they that far off either, I could still throw it around pretty good.

If you have any side shots, please post one, I'd love to see how they look from that angle. I'm still tossing back and forth on 235 vs. 245.

Those look sweet. Do they rub anywhere while making turns? Trucks look better with white letter tires. Hard to find in sizes that fit Maverick hybrid. I have used white oil based paint to make white letter tires in the past.

Firestone Destinations are all on the lighter side, which helps fuel economy. Installed LE2s on my Outback, and mileage went up, compared to the previous General Altimax RT43s that came off, and they were well worn.

That’s why I like your threads and reviews.

Too many other posters show us their mods but have no idea what the repercussions are, probably never thought about it, and couldn’t formulate, let alone articulate, any meaningful information for the readers.
They just want to show us their awesome stuff.

OK, now I will talk slowly… for those who's eyes glossed over.

You will tell us what the mpg differences are, before and after.
You will report on any acceleration performance differences.
You will let us know about any handling differences, good or bad.
You will report any rubbing issues.

This is information we can use.

Thank you.
