I like those too, but every time I have seen them on a vehicle, they have a lot of small rocks stuck in the tread. (ie - Rockmagnets). That would drive me nuts!

Not as good of a tread wear warranty. They had to have used a softer rubber compound to get them to perform as well in colder weather. The defender is just okay in cold and snow which explains the longer tread wear warranty compared to the cc2
235 vs 225 from factory. Will this tire impact mpg’s?The best tire ever made!
I don't have a Maverick yet, but I doubt it would. 235/65/17 is the stock size for the FX4 off road tire.
There are a lot of posts on the Forum that discuss this very topic. Please draw your own conclusions after reading some posts. I like the bigger size because it is only 1/2 inch taller and fills out the wheel well better and has a slightly larger footprint. Others have reported no rubbing what so ever. Even with the next size larger 245/65R17.

yes It does, but I would rather have an awesome tire rather than a flimsy cheap azz tire any day. Even if it cost me one mpg. From what I have read, switching from 225 to 235 had no affect on mileage. I don't claim to be an expert, but I have 40+ yrs of real world experience. I always go with a better quality tire than factory stock.
One of the very first Modifications to my Mavrick will be to remove the factory continental tires and replace with Michelin. The side walls on the factory tire is extremely thin (as reported by many others) thus they are super light weight. I will sell them to somebody on Craiglist. When my life and my family are at risk, I will always go with the best

Agree 100%. MPG's shouldn't even be a consideration when factors like Safety and the well being of Yourself, Family and Others come into play.
Got them mounted and balanced today! The Cyber Orange Hybrid should be here any day now.
Can't wait to put these wheels & tires on along with a bunch of other upgrades sitting and waiting.
It's a shame to see the Atlas Blue AWD get traded in, but the Hybrid was the plan from the beginning.

did the OP really not want a summer tire? I'm considering moving to summer tires next spring as I expect my stock michelins to be dead by then, and then I'll probably find some takeoff 17s for some all-terrain tires with the snowflake for winter '24.
LOL...Where I'm from summer is all season! I don't know that there is even a "Summer Tire"

there are not many summer tires available in sizes suited for a maverick. they pretty much all come from high performance SUVs like a Porsche Cayenne or similar. (most summer tires are way the heck less diamater than ~29".) michelin's summer tire is the pilot sport, your defender ltx m/s is a really great all-season.
Yes, those high performance tires wear out quick. The Defender, I have lots of experience with those. I have had 2 sets go over 100k miles without a problem. They do well in the snow too. My brother had them on a 4-runner that he took off road all the time and never a problem. They are the best in my book, That is why they are going on my Maverick.

I bought them before Michelin discontinued them. The defender 2 replaced LTX MS (made them whimperier in my opinion). The LTX M/S = Mud and snow. The defender 2 is more of a street only tire, but it does have a longer tread wear rating and a slightly different tread pattern causing them to loose the M/S rating and Extra Load rating too.

Gotcha. Seems like you made a good purchase for your uses, then. I wanted a road tire with max life. I don't care about off-road traction nor load.
