Lobo Tailpipe Question

What is the reason/purpose of that square cutout (and welded back on) near the end of the tailpipe? Is it Lobo only or on all models?

I’m going to install a Borla Type 3 catback soon & will be removing that OEM piece of tailpipe. Like to know what it is before I recycle it

What a great idea - certainly lighter & smaller than the muffler shaped resonator.

That is on all models as far as I know at least the non hybrid models
except the early ones that had a second rear muffler. It is to eliminate droning noise in the cabin. It does not do anything to exhaust flow so you may not want to remove it unless you don't mind a moaning sound inside the truck.
