LED Headlights - are bulbs serviceable / replaceable?

LOL. The headlights on our 1963 Falcon worked just fine. Thinking you NEED an led is just silly. Not everyone in the motoring community can afford this. Is it safer to drive with only one headlight if it's too expensive for your budget?

I know, just get a home equity loan to pay for a headlight.

No you haven’t. You’re thinking of a drop in led bulb. Maverick does t have any sort of led bulb. See attached pic. All it has are individual ones of these in each reflector. (Not pic specific as this was just first thing that came up in google)

What a brain fart idea! I've had to replace "30" year CREE led can lights in my house after 4 years, so they can fail way before their projected service life. Should be able to just plug in a new "chip" if it goes out IMHO. As LineNoise said, surely someone will come up with an aftermarket "fix" for this. Hmmmmmm, may be a good side hustle

Every new car should be standard with LEDs…brighter, safer, further and wider throw, easier on your eye as it’s closer to daylight. Halogen is ancient technology and a big part why American brands are falling behind others…refusal to adapt

I hope you’re right…”Cree” leds suck. They’re 7-8 year old led technology…that’s just the first pic that came up on google

Dang! I was thinking they were LED bulbs!

I spent $150 for a pair of LED bulbs in my VW and they needed replaced once. So $300 for 167,000 miles of lighting the way.

Let’s hope the Ford ones last that long too!

No oem manufacturer to my knowledge uses an led bulb for headlights. All just use the individual chips, even in a projector

Hopefully but the the time I need to replace one the aftermarket will be caught up and can order different headlight housings that are at least cheaper, and probably better too.

Insanity. So someone with a base mav has to spend 6% of the sticker on a replacement headlight assembly if the headlight goes out. So many 'rights' on this truck but, the LED headlights are a definite oversight. They're cool, dont' get me wrong. But nobody buying that truck wants a $1200 light. They want to slap a $5 bulb in and go along with their day.

My wife's 2021 Kia Sedona SX has steering LED head lamps. $2500 to replace both L and R units. Fortunately it was covered under an insurance claim. But it sure freaked me out thinking what I would do if I ever needed to replace them. These prices are insanely marked up from the OEM.

Eventually the aftermarket will mature for LED units. They kinda already have for the F150. Much more reasonably priced.

And if an LED diode did go out out of warranty, by then I'm sure we could figure out what model diode it is and solder in a replacement rather than dumping the entire assembly. Not to mention that aftermarket cooler headlight upgrades would be a fraction of the price, or used takeoffs from totaled Mavs.

Nothing lasts forever.

There will be eBay shops setup for repairs. There'll be an aftermarket. Plenty of options.

LEDs are superior in many ways. I'm sure I'm gonna love the hell out of them. But I'm also gonna be really pissed when one of them goes out. If I can't pop in a couple cheap bulbs. No matter if it's within warranty or 15 years from now.

For $1400 I can have a shop re-build the entire front end of my suburban. For $1400 on a maverick, I get a headlight? C'mon

It's not a deal-breaker for me. I'm just saying I wouldn't have put LED headlamps in these if I took a look at the rest of the truck.

You could always do a projector lens retrofit that accepts a regular bulb, it's pretty common for custom headlight shops to do. Honestly it's not worth worrying too much about since they'll be under warranty for 3 years, and after that the diode itself is probably a generic diode that can be soldered on like JASmith said.
