The Mav is a 4 passenger vehicle with a large open trunk. A bed extender would have helped you with this. I wouLd have found a dumpster close to home and put in it. How many sq feet is the Mav bed and what is the sq ft of a king mattress. Your lucky it didn’t Come off and cause a accident.

Looks to me like he, his truck, and the mattress made it to the recycling center just fine.

And what a hilarious ride it was. It wasn’t going anywhere with the straps, but what a ridiculous looking event.

Worked in furniture for 20 years, and there isn't a car I haven't strapped a mattress to. I once tied a king sized mattress to a Fiero - the Maverick is definitely up to the task (would be just fine if you stack the box springs and leave the tailgate down).

We kept the box springs, but good advice. I’ve seen way worse on the road with people flying down the parkway with a king on the roof of a civic. With it strapped down like this, it’s perfectly safe. Hope this helps somebody here if you’re questioning what to do as your Casper gets delivered

As an owner of a Casper bed I'd have kept the old mattress for a couple of days. A new Casper REALLY NEEDS to air out.

Next time if you fold like a taco with straps before you load it, the U-shape will keep it sticking out straighter and less all sad n floppy.

As if Fiero's didn't already have problems catching on fire, here you are dangling combustible material's over the engine bay vents 🤣

With advice like this, you're lucky you haven't been prosecuted for illegal dumping.

I had an 84 fiero with the 4cyl 4 speed and didn't have any problems all the way up until I put a v8 in it haha. Afterwards it was more a problem of keeping front tires on the ground then worry about a fire. 😁

I don't know but we have recycle dumpsters all over our county and a big center within a mile or two at closed up gas station so I will still go to the closets' dumpster. Hauling a mattress with all the overhang is dangerous. I have seen people with the F-150 size truck loose their new mattress and box springs on I-70. The last mattress I purchased was delivered and the old one taken away free. I may have paid too much for it but I didn't have the hassle to dispose of it. Another good option is take your saws all to it and put it in your home dumpster. My dumping would not have been illegal as I have all the legal options at my disposal. I live on acreage so I could have set it on fire I desired. In my case I would not have put it on a 16 SQ ft open truck bed when a queen mattress is about 30 sq ft. He was lucky he didn't receive a ticket for overhang. If I was inclined to do what he did I would still stop at the first Legal dumpster if that makes you happy.
