Hi and tyvm for designing this mount. I am wondering if there are any concerns about backing off the two bolts that are securing what I assume is the air bag. I’m sure there is enough thread since I haven’t seen any issues mentioned but wanted to ask.
Strongly recommend disconnecting the 12V battery while working up under the dash, especially if you are pulling wires and making connections like I was.
As far as the two nuts, there is more than enough thread; I added the thickness of the bracket plus big flat washers, and had plenty of "bite" left. The nuts were not especially tight and you can easily replicate the torque values by hand with normal tools. (I don't know what the OEM torque specs are - I'm just saying you can "put it back about as tight at it was" and it is not a major challenge)
I am a little late to the party. I have a Kenwood Amp that is 4" wide vs Kicker's 2.75". If the bracket was a little longer, would my amp fit without blocking the cabin air filter or is it just a smidge too big?
Where is a good place for the ground wire when using this bracket? I added another washer to the right mounting bolt and grounded there. But it makes the bracket mount at an angle with all the added hardware.
