Keyhole Rust

Hello Everyone!
Have a XL that has about 1,000 miles on it. Has anyone else noticed what looks to be like rust forming on the keyhole? Saw a bit forming on the driver side and tailgate. I’ll try and post some pictures before I try and clean it.

Looks like grease to me.

That's made of stainless so that's dirt, grease, monkey poop, etc. Everything but rust.

I agree with the previous two maybe your key had some crud on it try cleaning the keyhole. Could just be surface debris and you don't really want that getting in the lock cylinder.

I'd carefully use some WD40 on a Q-tip to clean off whatever that is.

Never use WD40 on a lock, it attracts dirt and will make the problem worst in the long run…. I deal with locks daily so I know.

Not in the lock, on the little door covering the lock that has gunk on it.

This would work but make sure it is a dry WD40
