Just received VIN, 2 order numbers, color and some other stuff not what ordered Oh, my...

I ordered a Cactus Gray XLT FWD with luxury package, moon roof and some other stuff last August. The order form with order # is signed. Went to dealer 2 months later to check on order and got a printout with my order but a different order #. Noticed that 2 days ago when I called customer support and was told my VIN #, production date(Oct 10) and delivery date/s. I wasn't expecting this since I had read somewhere if we didn't have a VIN # in earlier September, we were going to be (maybe) getting a 2023. She told me to get onto Ford order/tracker with this info, but it wouldn't process info. I called back and was again told same # and dates. They said it was alto blue--I said it wasn't. Told to check with dealer. Dealer said I didn't have a VIN. Yesterday the order/tracker opened with my info and I saw it did not have a moonroof, was alto blue and had co-pilot 360 which I did not order. Went by dealership today to see general or sales manager but both were out. I left note to call me about meeting tomorrow morning l want my truck but will now take almost anything although I will miss the moon roof and prefer my original color choice. I'm wondering if they messed up placing the order or placed someone else's order. Whose truck is this gonna be? What's up with the other order number? Should I go on and order a 2023? What should I expect the dealer to honor? I think it's going to be interesting. Thanks for any input. Pearl

Same happened to me. Dealer gave my order and someone else's the same order numbers. Ford gave me the VIN from the other customers build. Went from excited to bummed pretty quick.

Was your order even placed? Are you reordering? How did they act when they saw this?

The dealer used the same order number for two vehicles. I had this happen also. Ford chat told me I had two vehicles on order. Actually, just had one. You were given the VIN of an order number ordered by someone else. It appears you do not have a VIN for your order and will need to rollover to MY23. Dealer should be able to sort this out quickly. If you rollover, the dealer should give you a lower priority code so you do not "lose your place in line" and will be "ahead" of new 23 orders. You should also receive the special offer for the rollover.

As others have said above, some dealers re-use numbers multiple times for different orders. Or even change the order number they originally assigned.

Similar issue here, on initial order and months of waiting they sent me a email with VIN, went to Ford tracking and it keep saying unable to process. Went back to dealer and they set me a screen shot of my order number and it wasn't my truck.
Then went to Ford customer service (phone) and gave them the VIN and they gave me the correct order number and all is well and truck should be built next week. Dealer came back with the correct order number shortly after so having wrong order number is probably somewhat common.

I guess my order is fine, just reordered today. When I called the Ford marketing number they seen my order and the other person's. Chat person said they couldn't see mine. calling Ford seems more accurate.

It was Ford customer service (phone) that gave me the VIN that went with my original order number .
I went to my dealer on Thursday and missed the sales manager. I met with him yesterday. He told me that was not my truck since they had assigned 2 orders the same number. My new order # still did not have a VIN.
I ordered a 2023 Cactus gray XLT FWD with luxury pkg, black pkg, =/- and some of the things taken out of 2021 lux pkg =/-. It totaled $535 more that 2021 order (did get the $2750 rebate?) and it's priority 10. Imagine I'll still be waiting a long while. Told him I'd take the the blue one if other didn't want it and if my 2021 order came in, I'd take it, too (nephews could use).
About 6 months ago, I bought a 2000 Ranger XLT with 125,000 miles from a friend for a very low price. I'm still waiting to have work on getting the back doors to open so I can put my stuff in there. Know anyone around Augusta GA or Edisto Island SC who can do this? Will probably end up at Ford service.
