I finally received a VIN and a production date for my Maverick order! Great news, right? Unfortunately, it is not for the EB XLT I ordered in January. Instead, it is for the Hybrid XLT with Lux that I ordered in October and subsequently cancelled--yes, I regret having cancelled it but that is not the point of the post.

I am assuming that the dealer never cancelled the order and intends to sell the truck at a big markup. So here is my question. If you were me, what, if anything, would you do?

Reach out to the dealership via email advising you received your VIN and are looking forward to purchasing it when it arrives.

Were you asked to email or sign anything when you cancelled?

I sent an email saying I wanted to cancel, which was acknowledged. They then sent me my deposit back in the form of a check, which I cashed. So, they have ample evidence that I intended to cancel the order. That said, I would assume that they were then supposed to tell Ford I cancelled the order, which they evidently did not do. To me, that is what makes it interesting.....

Once you Email for cancellation and cash your deposit you have no legal claim on truck,

I wouldn’t come in confrontational, but act delighted and grateful. They’ll then respond with the next steps including how to leave the deposit.
Do it quickly though bc that truck will automatically post to their site now that there’s a VIN.

Go and demand your Maverick.

XLT hybrids are listed on Carvana for $40k. I would check to see if selling it would be profitable.

Do you have a window sticker? I don't have one yet.

I'd take the truck. I am still waiting for my hybrid, ordered 11-09-21.
